V Raman
Sir C. V. Raman' was born on 7 November 1888 at
Thiruvanaikoil, Tiruchirappalli, Madras Province, India. His
full name was Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman. He was the
son of R. Chandrasekhara Iyer and Parvati Ammal
(Saptarshi Parvati). His father was a lecturer in
mathematics and physics at Presidency College in Madras.
C. V. Raman passed his B.A. examination in 1904 in first
place and won the gold medal in physics, and in 1907 he
gained his M.A. degree with the highest distinctions.
Sir C. V. Raman was an Indian physicist whose work was
influential in the growth of science in India. He was the
first Indian scientist to be honoured with the prestigious
Nobel Award in Physics in the year 1930.
His discovery 'Raman effect' or 'Raman scattering' is
popularly known as an inelastic scattering of a photon. He
was honoured with a large number of honorary doctorates
and memberships of scientific societies. He died on 21
November 1970 at the age of 82 at Bangalore.
National Science Day is celebrated in India on February 28
each year to mark the discovery of the Raman effect by
Indian Physicist Sir Chandrasekhar Venkata Raman on 28
February 1928.
SACHIN TENDULKAR
Sachin Tendulkar is a former Indian International Cricketer his
full name is Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. He is known as the Little
Master because he is considered as the master of cricket.
Some people call him the God of Cricket.
Sachin Tendulkar is the only player who has scored one hundred
Centuries. He hit many runs against the strong teams and
bowlers. He scored great runs against England and Australia.
At that time, the title was split and many people recognised Kramnik
as the legitimate champion. Anand was the only undefeated player in
Mexico. He is one of the four players in history to break the 2800
mark on the FIDE rating list. He played for the Corus chess
tournament in Jan. 2008 at WIJK AAN ZEE (Holland).
