Overall appearance – look for rust, cracks, missing parts.

Remove gas logs or inshaw burners.


Remove pilot assembly.
Brush and vacuum heat exchanger.
Check inside heat exchanger for rust, rot, and cracks.
Wire brush gas burners and vacuum.
Clean pilot assembly and orifice.
Inspect thermo-coupling. If replacement necessary, inform homeowner with price.
Check hot surface ignitor. If replacement necessary, inform homeowner with price.
Re-install gas burners, pilot assembly and/or hot surface ignitor.
Clean flame sensor.
Check and drain inducer and exchanger vacuum tube. Replace, if necessary.
Remove inducer motor and check impeller.
Oil inducer motor and re-install.
Remove blower assembly.
Vacuum and wipe blower area.
Check heat exchanger exterior for rust, rot, and cracks.
Check secondary heat exchanger for leaks and rot.
Brush and vacuum secondary heat exchanger.
Replace air filter – extra charge for Aprilaire or Air Bear.
Brush and vacuum blower wheel and blower motor.
Oil blower motor.
Wipe down blower assembly housing inside and out.
Check motor mounts.
Check and tighten blower belt.
Check and oil bearings.
Re-install blower assembly.
Wipe down lower compartment door inside and out and re-attach.
Fire up system.
Check pressure switch operation.
Check flame sensor operation.
Check gas valve input/output pressure.
Check and adjust combustion air shutters.
Check high limit operation.
Check blower operation.
Wipe upper compartment door inside and out and re-attach.
Wipe down outside of unit.
Check thermostat operation.
Clean work area.
Inspect unit looking for water or oil leaks, unsecured parts and rot.
Inspect overall condition of the oil tank.
Replace oil filter at tank.
Replace fuel unit strainer.
Purge pump and oil line ensuring full flow of oil.
Remove, clean, and Inspect burner coupling.
Remove burner motor and inspect.
Clean cad cell eye.
Clean and check retention head.
Replace nozzle.
Clean, file, and adjust electrodes.
Clean gun assembly.
Clean and reassemble burner.
Start heating unit and check transformer operation.
Test safety timing of primary control.
Check combustion chamber and flame.
Purge supply pipe from tank to filter to clear sludge build-up.
Manually work firematic shut-off at tank and burner to ensure operation, in case of fire.
Remove and clean pump and pump shaft.
Remove and clean primary air band.
Remove and clean secondary air band.
Brush and vacuum burner squirrel cage.
Check burner wiring looking for burnt, loose, or frayed wires and possible shorts.
Check burner mounting and gasket.
Remove smoke pipe from unit to chimney.
Brush and vacuum smoke pipe.
Brush and vacuum chimney base, clear all obstacles to ensure free flow of flue gases.
Open all clean-out panels. Remove, brush, and vacuum flue collector box.
Brush and vacuum all flue passages.
