ESSAY
1. Discuss some of Rizal’s prophecies regarding the future of the Philippines. Which have
actually been fulfilled.
Rizal’s prophecy regarding the Philippines is actually fulfilled in some way. Why? First,
because after Rizal’s death our natives received the independence. Second, tho Americans
colonized the Philippines hence it helps the locals to experience the liberty and democracy.
Lastly, trough Rizal’s work Filipinos nowadays are enjoying the liberty.

2. Explain why Rizal concluded that “natives” supposed indolence was an end-product of the
Spanish colonization.”
Because he traces its causes to factors such as the climate and social disorders. He
defends the Filipinos by saying that they are by nature not indolent, because in fact, even
before the arrival of Spaniards, Filipinos have been engaged in economic activities such as
agriculture and trade. Indolence therefore has more deeply rooted causes such as abuse and
discrimination.

3. Explain the relevance of Rizal’s “The Philippines a century hence” to our country today.
“The Philippines a Century Hence” are as relevant today as they were when they were
written over a century ago. This is an essay written by our national hero Jose Rizal. And it is
relevance to Rizal because as he focus on strengthening the most important backbone of our
country: our values, outlooks, and all the views that have shaped our sense of national
identity. To us, it remind us that we Filipino are historically resolute and determined.

4. Do you believe that the writing of Rizal were able awaken the Filipino patriotism?
Rizal’s writing awakened the Filipino patriotism because through his writing you can see
that he’s protecting Filipinos from Spanish Colonizers. In that way it will awaken the minds and
hearts of Filipinos concerning the oppression of Spaniards and encouraging them to fight for
their right and not just sit in the corner and watch what will happened to our country.

I think Filipinos were not try to sell and will not tolerate others to mine our own land.
And patriotism will not fade away to mind and hearts of every Filipinos.

5. In what other ways can Filipino youth of today show their patriotism to their country?
Example for this is Filipinos are trying to defend the extra economic zone where another
country invading some of our lands and some of islands. This issue awakes the awareness and
love of the country of everyone. True, if you love your country you will not tolerate others to
invade your own instead you will show to others that patriotism is still the traits that will never
die that Rizal thought to us. Just like Rizal’s famous quote “Ang hindi marunong lumingon sa
pinanggalingan ay hindi makakarating sa paroroonan.” It just means that don’t forget where did
you came from. As a youth we show our love to our country using digitals in that way others
will aware and patriotism will stay.
