Assignment Expectations:

• This assignment will demonstrate your ability to address step two of the UbD planning model by
identifying all of the general and specific outcomes you are assessing and evaluating within your
chosen unit, designing essential understandings and questions, identifying the formative and
assessment tools you will use, and including a descriptive overview of each tool. A template will be
provided for this assignment. Please complete this assignment with outcomes from the program of
studies for your major discipline and for a grade between grades 7 to 12. This assignment can be
completed individually or in pairs.
• The UAP will need to show the following:
o Identification of outcomes (GLO, SLO) from the Program of Studies
o Essential questions and understandings connected to the identified outcomes
o Variety of formative and summative assessment tools, demonstrating a balanced
assessment plan including a pre-assessment
o Assessment of each outcome in more than one way
o Descriptive overview of each assessment tool, indicating how students are demonstrating
the related outcomes, including an articulation of how the tool is being used with respect to
assessment for, as, and of learning
• A template will be provided for the UAP on the course Moodle.

Assignment Submission Guidelines:

• Initial drafts will be brought to class on Tuesday, January 21 for peer review. Initial drafts can be
either in paper or digital format.
• Final drafts will be submitted by midnight the evening of Thursday, January 23. Any variations to
this due date need to be discussed with the instructor in advance.
• The UAP (in word format), using the provided template, will be submitted to the appropriate
dropbox on Moodle.
• Individual feedback and marks will be communicated in the course Moodle
