Paragraphs
I have taken a Mandarin Chinese course before. I took this course last year and it has six months of
duration. I have taken this course at Lean Hour Chinese School with my University friend who has a
strong willingness to learn this language. With this course, I learned basic phrases of everyday life that
have been used worldwide. Moreover, I learned how to pronounce pinyin and how to stress the four
tones. One more thing I learned is how to use a brush with ink to write Chinese words. My friend and I
were called to write as a sample in front of the whole class.

There are some advantages of taking a Mandarin Chinese course. First, you can communicate in not just
China but plenty of other countries, too. For instance, China is not only a major economic player, but it’s
also a significant trading partner for many Asian countries. Furthermore, apart from China, Mandarin is
also spoken in Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore. Second, you will be in demand by
employers and paid well for your efforts. Chinese is one of the most necessary languages which is needed
by every workplace around the world include our country, and you know apart from English, Chinese is
an important factor which will help you to be hired and get a high salary. Third, your travels will be
smoother. As we have known, the Chinese language has been spoken in many countries, so you still able
to use this language to communicate whenever you travel in case you don’t want to use English. Lastly,
Enjoy Chinese movies, TV shows, and music authentically. While subtitles exist for Chinese movies and
TV shows, translations may not always make sense directly, so if you want to authentically enjoy these
entertainment forms at their highest quality, your best bet is to learn the language.

There are a few points that the course should be improved. First, exchange culture between countries. It
would be great if it has any activities that allow students to share and exchange their experience, culture,
and their interest between students from both countries. Second, the school should arrange a trip. It can be
after finish or during the course, the school should make a trip which provides students chance to visit
China in order to get more knowledge and deeply understand about Chinese history and culture. These
points are useful for those who are interested in beyond just learn in school, but to get further experience
and knowledge. In this way, students will gain more skills and improve themselves faster and faster.
Additionally, students will get a real practicum with native Chinese people and make them remember
every great memory they have done.
