Dear Sir

As a qualified accountant I’m eager to find a position at your prestigious firm. Since the
beginning of my studies at CASL, I have researched accounting firms in Sri Lanka to
determine which might provide challenging career opportunities. Bob and Adam’s is the
first in my list of ‘perfect employers’.

The skills that I have developed include a strong aptitude in the areas of financial
accounting, auditing, corporate accounting and management accounting. Possessed of a
strong attention to detail, I meticulously check and double-check my work to ensure that
all reports are correct and ready for submission well ahead of deadlines.
I would be grateful if you would add my name to your pool of potential job candidates.
Please let me know if I can provide you with any additional information – I would
welcome the opportunity to work at your firm.

Question 9 Making a presentation

*Here are some points for the presentation. There are many other possible ways to
overcome the fear of Public Speaking. Therefore award marks to other relevant /
correct answers.

(1) Prepare, organize your material and practice with the goal of improving your
delivery.

(2) Speak about topics that you're passionate about. Let your excitement for
communicating worthy ideas carry you through.

(3) Avoid memorization: memorization makes it difficult to recover from errors. It

also makes you sound like a robot.

(4) Be aware of your audience. Imagine you are speaking to an old friend rather than
a large crowd.

(5) Speak at a normal pace. You can even speak at a slower pace if you feel it will
help.

(6) Stick to your strengths. May be you are good with people, you are a good story
teller and you are knowledgeable. Whatever it is use your strengths.

(7) Speak in public as often as possible. Practice makes it perfect.
