2. The students will be able to express that adverbs modify their differences and types.
3. Create a sentence that uses adverbs and its types

Degree)

Prior Knowledge
An adverb is a word or an expression that modifies a verb, adjective, another adverb,
determiner, clause, preposition, or sentence.
5 Types of Adverbs

 An adverb of time provides more information about when a verb takes place.
 Adverbs of place illustrate where the verb is happening.
 Adverbs of manner provide more information about how a verb is done.
 Adverbs of degree explain the level or intensity of a verb, adjective, or even another
adverb.
 Adverbs of frequency explain how often the verb occurs. They’re often placed directly
before the main verb of a sentence.
Activity 1: Brainstorming

1. The students will be given short activity for 10 minutes to analyze the sentence what
type of adverb is it.

B. Analysis

What is an Adverb?
Adverbs are words that are used in sentences to describe or change the meaning of a Verb or
Adjective or even another Adverb. They add a description to the sentence to make it more
detailed and interesting. For example: He walked slowly across the square.
Here, one can see that the Adverb ‘slowly’ is describing the Verb ‘walk’ by telling that the person
was walking slowly.
TYPES OF ADVERBS
Adverbs are used in sentences to answer many questions about the Verbs/Adjectives/Adverbs
themselves. The different types of Adverbs are as following:

What is an adverb of time? Look at examples below:


Example: The results were announced yesterday.
Here the Adverb is yesterday which is answering the question: When were the results
announced? ‘Announced’ is the verb in this sentence
Adverb of Place
What is an adverb of place? Look at examples below:
Example: They will meet you there.
The Adverb here is there that is specifying a place for the Verb meet and the question being
answered is: Where will they meet you?
Example.: In spring, flowers bloom everywhere.
Here the Verb is bloom and the Adverb is everywhere, answering the question: Where do the
flowers bloom in spring?
Other examples of Adverbs of Place are – Anywhere, Somewhere, Near, Far, etc.
Adverb of Manner
What is an adverb of manner? Look at examples below:
Example.: He quietly slipped away.
The Adverb here is quietly which is telling the way or manner in which the action was carried out
and the Verb is slipped which is telling: How did he slip away.
Example.: She works fast.
The Verb here is work and the Adverb is fast and the question being asked is: How does she
work?
These Adverbs tell about the manner of the action being done, whether it is done happily or
haltingly etc. Other examples of Adverbs of Manner are – Honestly, Joyfully, Cunningly, etc.
ADVERB OF DEGREE
For adverbs that answer “how much” or to “what extent”, we use adverbs of degree. For
example, they usually modify other verbs, adjectives, or adverbs making them stronger or
weaker.

 Examples: The English test was extremely difficult.

ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY

Adverbs of frequency express “how often” something takes place. In other words, it
explains the intensity of occurrence that an event happens. Adverbs of frequency are
usually in this form: Subject + Adverb + Verb
EXAMPLE:

On a word document, make your own essay using each Types of Adverbs. The theme is all
about the daily routine of yours during this pandemic. Submission will be on Friday around 2pm
on the afternoon.

In this task, the student will be divided into five groups that all types of adverb will be
execute and make 10-15 minutes. Motivational video about the students experiencing this
pandemic and how they conquer their anxiety and depression. The video has to deliver a clear
message to its intended audience. Each group has one reprentative who will be uploaded the
video on their social media accounts , while the link has to be attached before TURNING IN
here in google classroom. The submission will be on friday until 10pm only.
Criteria
Executing the topic given- 40%
Delivery of the message- 30%
Creative Presentation- 20%
Format– 10%
Total – 100%

E. Agreement

Should be posted on facebook and copy the linked of social media a before
TURNING IN into the google class.
