The average damaging factors at each station along National Highway N-25 are
tabulated in Table 8-59. The results provide a comprehensive description of locations
where maximum overloading is being followed and vice versa. The results will help in
pavement design for rehabilitation and maintenance of existing roadway and for new
one.

8.4.14 Tire Pressure Measurements on National Highway N-25

The tires of overloaded vehicles are over-inflated far in excess of their normal
pressure. The Consultants site teams have checked tire pressure of each truck
weighed during the survey. The average tire pressure value of front and rear axles of
trucks plying on National Highway N-25 is listed in Table 8-60.

8.5 National Highway N-35

The Karakoram Highway (N-35) with a total length of 803 Km connects provinces of
Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan with China’s western Xinjiang
Uyghur Autonomous Region. On the Chinese side it becomes the China National
Highway 314. The highway passes through Karakoram mountain range at an
elevation of 4,714 meters making it a popular tourist attraction. The results of axle
load survey performed on National Highway N-35 are discussed in subsequent sub-
sections.

N-35 is summarized in Table 8-61 and is graphically presented in Figure 8-33.

8.5.3 Load Spectrum by Axle Configuration on National Highway N-35

The axle load survey data was organized in a way to identify the number of vehicles
carrying load above and below permissible limits. Furthermore, load spectrums were
identified and number of vehicles carrying load in specified spectrums were
calculated. The results are tabulated in Table 8-63. The percentage of trucks for
major axle configuration carrying load above and below permissible limits is
graphically presented in Figure 8-36.
