Quarter 3 – Module 3:
Solving Corresponding Parts of
Congruent Triangles
Introductory Message
This Contextualized Learning Module (CLM) is prepared so that you, our dear
learners, can continue your studies and learn while at home. Activities, questions,
directions, exercises, and discussions are carefully stated for you to understand each
lesson with ease.
This CLM is composed of different parts. Each part shall guide you step-by-
step as you discover and understand the lesson prepared for you.

Pre-test is provided to measure your prior knowledge on the lesson. This will
show you if you need to proceed in completing this module or if you need to ask your
facilitator or your teacher’s assistance for better understanding of the lesson. At the
end of this module, you need to answer the post-test to self-check your learning.
Answer keys are provided for all activities and tests. We trust that you will be honest
in using them.

In addition to the material in the main text, Notes to the Teacher is also
provided to our facilitators and parents for strategies and reminders on how they can
best help you in your home-based learning.
Please use this module with care. Do not put unnecessary marks on any part
of this CLM. Use a separate sheet of paper in answering the exercises and tests.
Likewise, read the instructions carefully before performing each task.

If you have any question in using this CLM or any difficulty in answering the
tasks in this module, do not hesitate to consult your teacher or facilitator.

Thank you.

corresponding parts of congruent
triangles today!

5
What I Know
Direction: Select the letter of the correct answer.

triangles are congruent.

What’s In

Direction: Answer the following questions in your activity notebook. In the

figure below, , the two triangles are congruent.

1. What are the possible corresponding pairs of sides in the two congruent
triangles?
2. Is it easy to give the corresponding pair of one side?
3. Is it necessary that all triangles should be congruent?

7
What’s New

ARTISTICALLY YOURS!

Direction: Study the artworks below and answer the questions that follow,
write your answer on your activity notebook.

1. Have you seen congruent triangles in the given pictures of artworks, tools,
equipment, and furniture?
2. What is the significance of their congruent triangular designs?
3. How can you justify equalities in triangles in these designs?
4. Cite other examples of designs that you can see involving congruent
triangles.

What is It

It is not always necessary that all triangles

should have equal lengths. In this case, we
will spend the rest of the period on how to
solve corresponding parts of congruent
triangles.

Problem #1: Given the two triangles below are congruent, state the
corresponding parts using CPCTC.
AC= 9
CT= 12

Find AT? Find DG, OG, DO?

8
Solutions:
AT2 = AC2+CT2
AT2 = (9)2+ (12)2
AT2 = 81 + 144
AT = √225
AT = 15

DG = 12, since it is corresponding pair to CT

OG= 9, since it is corresponding pair to AC
OD= 15, since it is also corresponding pair to AT

Problem #2: Given:

Find: AB, AC, BD, DC

Solutions:
DC = (12 in) /(2)
DC = 6 in

AC2 = AD2+DC2
AC2 = (8)2+ (6)2
AC2 = 64 + 36
AC = √100
AC = 10

AB = 10, since it is SAS Triangle Congruence, AC corresponding pair to AC

BD = 6, since its corresponding pair to DC

Guide Questions:

1. Is it easy to find the unknown sides of corresponding parts of

congruent triangles?
2. What makes you get a wrong answer in solving unknown parts?
3. Reflect what you have learned in the discussion.

9
What’s More

Independent Activity 1. In the figure below, it is rectangle with a length of

45 feet and a width of 28 feet.

1. Label your rectangle as ABCD.

2. What are the possible corresponding pairs of sides in the two congruent
triangles?
3. Now, is it easy to give the corresponding pair of one side?
4. Is it necessary that all triangles should be congruent?
5. What is the measure of each diagonal?
6. Give all the measures of the two pairs of triangles that are congruent.

Independent Assessment 2
Direction: Triangle ABC and Triangle RST are congruent

1. What are the possible corresponding pairs of sides in the two congruent
triangles?
2. Now, is it easy to give the corresponding pair of one side?
3. Is it necessary that all triangles should be congruent?

Independent Activity 3.

1. Given the two triangles below are congruent, find corresponding parts
using CPCTC. If AC = 12 and CT = 16, find AT, DG, OG, and DO.

10
2. Solve: Triangle ABC and Triangle DEF are congruent triangles.

Given: AC= 28 and AB= 21, find BC, DE, DF, and FE.
