HEALTH PROMOTING ACTIVITY

5 PILLARS TO WELLNESS
Living a Healthy Lifestyle is as simple as consistently incorporating
these Top 5 Health Promoting Activities into your daily routines.
Doing so can help you to reach and maintain a healthy weight,
reduce your risk of chronic diseases, and promote better physical
health, emotional wellness and vitality.

STRESS REDUCTION
Reduce stress by engaging in meditation
practices,
focus your attention and quiet the streams of
thought. Journaling, writing down your thoughts
and feelings can be a good release for pent-up
emotions. Deep Breathing intentionally changes
your breathing patterns to promote relaxation.

HYDRATION
It helps flush our systems of waste products and
toxins, Yet many people do not consume enough
fluids causing tiredness, low energy, and
headaches. It’s common to mistake thirst for
hunger,so staying well hydrated will also help
you make healthier food choices.

Aim for 1/2 of your body weight in fluid ounces per

day.

SLEEP HYGIENE
Rest and refresh. Get plenty of sleep. Go to bed
at a regular time each day and practicing habits
like a Power-down Hour to get better sleep. Sleep
restores both your mind and body. Allow yourself
some unfocussed time each day to refresh and
you may find yourself breaking up with your
snooze button.

MOVEMENT
Unlike it's cousin "exercise" with movement,
everything counts! Guidelines suggest getting at
least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity
per week, but this can be spread out, so put on
a favorite playlist and dance around while
doing household tasks like laundry or cleaning
dishes.
As a general goal, aim for at least 30 minutes of
physical activity every day.

NUTRITION
Eating a healthy and balanced diet provides
nutrients to your body. These nutrients give
you energy and keep your heart beating, your
brain active, and your muscles working.
Nutrients also help build and strengthen
bones, muscles, and tendons and also
regulates body processes, such as blood
pressure.
