Solution:
First, plot the test data on Cartesian coordinate paper. Draw parallel lines tangentially about the
pressure response corresponding to the fifth pulse. The peak occurs at 25.5 hr. Thus, the time lag
for the fifth pulse, tL, is equal to 25.5-25=0.5 hr. The plot also shows that the vertical distance
between the parallel lines is Δpmax =4 psi.
The pulse length, Δtp , is 5 hrs. From the given data, the cycle length, Δtc, is equal to the
production time (pulse length) plus the shut-in time (i.e., Δtc = 5 + 5 = 10 hr). Thus
