My everyday or ordinary day activities begin from the time I wake up since I am usually an early riser wherein I wake up at around 6 AM in the morning and start my day with a prayer. Then, I will quickly tidy up my room before I proceed downstairs to have my breakfast. Afterwards, I will join online classes or I will start doing my homework which is basically what I just do throughout the day. If there are no academic activities to do with, I usually just play online games or watch movies online. At night, I will take a shower before having dinner then I will just finish my homework before going to bed. If there is no homework to finalize, I typically go to bed earlier and watch movies before sleeping. I noticed that it is really just a set routine. However, I observed that it is somehow unproductive since studying is the only beneficial thing that I do every day. It also shows that I have a sedentary lifestyle as I don’t do any exercise and only a lot of sitting down when studying or lying down when watching movies or playing games. I feel bored and uninterested because it is the same set of things that I do every day. There are no engaging activities to look forward to. In addition to this, since the usual classroom teaching has been discontinued due to the pandemic, I only study in front of my computer without any social interaction at all. This makes me bored and lethargic. I would like to add exercising in my everyday routine as I know that this is very important for me to be both physically and mentally fit. It is on the grounds that if we don’t walk or exercise daily then we might easily get prone to different diseases overtime which I don’t want to happen. Thus, I think I should prioritize having physical activity just like how I give importance to my studies. I also want to supply rest to my mind for me to be able to study without feeling any stress in which exercising is the best solution for me to be able to be productive and healthy at the same time. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, I was isolated from my friends and even if I am near my family, my social life definitely looks different these days with more people staying home and limiting contact with others outside. I must say this makes me isolated with no enthusiasm for tomorrow. It became unrealistic for me to keep up with my workloads all of the time in which sometimes I prefer to just stay in bed and do nothing without any physical activity at all. I became sedentary and inactive. But I also realized, we are under a pandemic right now in which our mental health should be our priority and not productivity. With so many unpleasant things happening around us right now, I think we must reduce our mental load even if it means reducing our physical workload. However, we must still give importance to our well-being, including our physical health. In which, as we try to just relax and have peace while resting for too long or sitting for too long could be the biggest threat to our health. Just like what I read in an article from the World Health Organization, sedentary lifestyles increase all causes of mortality including the risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, and many more. With that being said, physical activity and regular exercise are indeed essential for optimum health. Thus, together with taking care of our mental health during the pandemic, we must make sure as well to take care of our physical health by being certain to add exercise to our routine of daily activities. • Regularly washing or sanitizing hands – to protect one’s health and others • Wearing of masks – giving importance to the sacrifices of healthcare workers • Queuing and social distancing – defending one’s well-being and other • Staying at home especially if feeling sick – safeguarding one’s wellness and others • Disinfecting surfaces around home and work – to secure protection and safety
