Career Counseling

Opening my eyes in the middle of considerable amount of children crying in kindergarten to this day in
University , I have always been afraid of the scenewhere I am locked in a room with other children of the
same age and a giant person standing in front constantly talking. Since that day I don’t know what was
the purpose of me going toprison, which you call school/College/University.

It’s a tragedy that there is lack of Career counseling in Pakistan. Career Counseling is basically designed
to help in choosing, changing, or leaving a career.

Now question arises, why is career counseling necessary?Why it should be considered important? to
answer this, ask any child, why he fears to go to school? Why the course seems burden to him? Why the
thoughts of going school haunt him? Why his books don’t interest him? The answer to this is, they don’t
know what’s the purpose of solving, adding and dividing the sums that a calculator can do too. They
don’t know that if they love to run, to play football, to exercise then why they have only one game
period in a week. They don’t know if playing with colors attract themthen why they can’t do it all day
long. They don’t know if breaking a toy and then tryingto reassemble it amazes them then why they are
scolded for it.

In my opinion, children should be guided from the day first about their Career. Different psychological,
physical and mental tests should be done in order to know the strengths and interests of a child and
should be referred to that field. Different career counseling opportunities should be provided to
students at Pre-level, Primary level, Secondary level, College leveland University level.

Different tests and assessments would be helpful in finding them their field of interest. When you know
the purpose, when you know your potential, when you know your strengths then you love what you do,
you don’t get bored. If we talk about a job so when a right person is for the right job then employee's
motivation is high, he receives recognition, his performances increase, he gains sense of satisfaction,
success rate is high, lower level of absentees, lower level of turnover, better productivity, all employees
givethe best of their potential.

Through career counselling students get the right guidance, they become clear in their mind that what
they are doing and why they should do. Without career counseling students waste a lot of money, time
and strength on the thing that they are not made for. They force themselves to do the job that doesn’t
interest them. They bear mental stress and burden of not performing effectively. They couldn’t perform
to the best of their potential. As a result failure rate in school and college level is high, employee's
turnover and absentees rate is high at jobs, Poor quality and inefficiency is common.

If we wanta stress free society, a society full of opportunities, a society full of quality work, a society
where everyone is devoted and committed to work, a society where failure is rare, a society where
peace prevails, then we must focus on Career Counseling.
Feedback: Seems as if the writer is a victim of a lack of career counseling opportunities. However the
chain of thought can be improved upon and the choice of words needs improvement as well. Good Idea
for the essay. The topic is in relevance to the requirement and need for career counseling today for the
youth especially. Formatting can be improved as well.
