of natural products has flourished in many countries of Latin

America, toward the discovery of new bioactive compounds
and in chemical ecology, food and cosmetics chemistry,
chemotaxonomy, methods development, and other branches of
natural product sciences.
This special virtual issue of the Journal of Natural Products
assembles a series of articles published between the years 2018
and 2020. The selected papers highlight the chemistry of
plants, marine organisms, macro-organism symbionts, and
other microbes, new approaches for NMR analysis, pharmacol-
ogy of natural compounds, chemometrics, and organic
synthesis. Corresponding authors from diverse Central and
South American countries published significant contributions
in natural products, demonstrating the importance of rationally
developing biological resources for science, the economy, and
social development.
