Embracing the Recovery and Redevelopment of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry”

RATIONALE:

Inclined to the Annual Regional Convention conducted by the Convention and


Events Management Class (CEMC) of the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao, the CEMC
(2021) would like to take the privilege of organizing the 16th Regional Hospitality and Tourism
Convention and the 8th Hospitality and Tourism Society Academics and Skills Competition with
the theme “Rise Up, Restart, & Revive: Embracing the Recovery and Redevelopment of the
Tourism and Hospitality Industry.” This theme focuses on how the Hospitality and Tourism
Industry Recover and redevelop its operation considering the existence of an unprecedented
crisis.
Since we are amidst a severe pandemic and we are still in the middle of a struggle, and
covid cases are increasing. We need to be responsive to what needs to be done and adaptive to
the changes that are happening to rehabilitate the situation and recover what we have lost. The
Industry had to face this type of crisis, and this convention will provide knowledge on the
disposition of the Industry today. This will also showcase the talents and skills of the
participants.

PROJECTED INCOME:

The initial budget to be used as the capital fund of the CEMC 2021 will be drawn from
the registration fee of the Conveners, which costs P200.00 after the approval of this proposal.

Furthermore, the organizers donate the whole earnings to the HOSTS Fund following the
conference if all payments and contributions are settled with the official financial statement. The
Finance Committee shall appropriately liquidate all costs three days following the stated
Convention.

Strategies for Promotion

The promotion for “CEMC 2021” will start after the approval of the concept paper by the
Promotion Committee. It will be manage in different ways such as the following:

 Upload posters and video teasers in the Hospitality and Tourism Society Facebook Page
and the official page of SABH Council.
 
 An endorsement of the “CEMC 2021” will be requested from the Commission on Higher
Education to encourage more participants.

SEC. BERNADETTE ROMULO-PUYAT


Department of Tourism

Bernadette Fatima T. Romulo-Puyat is the current


Secretary of the Department of Tourism after
being appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte in
2018. She attended the University of the
Philippines and pursued an undergraduate and a
Masters degree in Economics. Secretary Romulo-
Puyat was a former lecturer at the UP School of
Economics (1994- 2006). She also served as an
Economic Consultant at the Housing and Urban
Development Coordination Council (HUDCC)
(2001-2002) and the Presidential Management
Staff (2005-2006), and was Deputy Cabinet
Secretary at the Office of the President in 2006.
She was appointed as Undersecretary at the Department of Agriculture from 2007 to 2018 where
she was designated to handle Special Concerns, Administration and Finance, and Agribusiness
and Marketing. Secretary Romulo-Puyat assumed office as the Secretary of the Department of
Tourism on May 14, 2018.

Cynthia Bernabe
Certified Event Professional

Cynthia Reantaso Bernabe is a graduate of the award-


winning Event Leadership Executive Program of
Temple University's School of Tourism and
Hospitality Management in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, USA. She is the Program Director for
Professional Event Management and a Faculty for
Principles and Best Practices in Event Management,
Event Planning and Coordination, and Special Events
and Risk Management at the De La Salle-College of
St. Benilde School of Professional and Continuing
Education (SPaCE). She was also a Faculty for Event
Management at the Enderun Colleges and at the
Miriam College where she taught Event Management
and Marketing for Integrated Marketing
Communication, a Masters' Degree Program for Communication Arts. She is also a Facilitator
for Systematic Event Management at the Development Center for Asia Africa Pacific (DCAAP).
To broaden her practice in the academe, Cynthia delivers corporate seminars and workshops
such as the series of Best Practices in Event Management seminars for the Bangko Sentral ng
Pilipinas Institute (BSPI).

Ms. Gibeth Gloria is a RISE (SEAK) Program Alumna and


Mentor, and she is currently the Executive Assistant
Manager of Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Manila Galleria.
She has extensive experience in hospitality and hotel
management specializing in food and beverage operations,
restaurant and bar concept, sales and marketing, rooms
management, talent management, and development. In 1998,
she worked as a Front Desk Agent at The King’s Hotel
Singapore. She worked for 14 years and four months at the
Heritage Hotel Manila as Accountant Manager, Assistant
Catering Manager, Catering Manager, Assistant Director of
Catering, and Food & Beverage Manager. She was also awarded as a Winner in the Manager
Category of the 2011 Mabuhay Awards.

service experience and ensures safety and security
before, during, and after the flight. She has over five
years of experience in the field of customer service. She
started as a Receptionist/HR Assistant for a fruitful six
months. Currently, She is a Cabin Crew for a wonderful
three years already. She gave excellent communication
and interpersonal skills that help her to connect to
people quickly. She is a fast learner and can work
independently. A goal-oriented person and can finish
tasks swiftly without compromising quality. She takes
pride in professionally conducting herself when
representing a company. She gave excellent

our community.
