What should we consider to What questions does it raise?
bring into our projects?
The school appeares inviting and exciting Situated in a large campus situation with
for pedestrians and cyclists because almost other creative schools the Holmen Campus
all the buildings have their most public part raises the question if it is real advanteges
at the ground floor. The placement of the of moving different schools together?
library and exhibition space close to the
main street seems to communicate with the As we experience it, there are little or non
city outside. sharing of functions between the architect
school and the three other schools today.
The processing of the many and good Is there possibilities of sharing functions for
outdoor spaces are also something that us? And what does it take to succeed with
characterizes Copenhagen in a positive way. this?
The placement of teacher / professors and As we read the buildings today, both from
students close to each other in each study the outside and the inside, we feel that the
department has a reputation of creating a transformation project of the school in 1996
good learning environment. maybe were a bit to respectful.
The old buildings are most interesting, as Some of the buildings, as the studio spaces
we see it, were there have been installed in the northern warehouse looks a bit to
new contrasting elements. tight and rigid.
The reuse of spaces with high celings has We feel that it would have been more
given a lot of good rooms. interesting to cut and open the old buildings
a bit more for circulation, air and light.
Old, tactile materials as brick, mortar And to introduce more moderne elements
and old wood constructions has obvious up against the old brick buildings. At the
qualities that are well taken care of. same time the old buildings possess a lot of
spatial qualities.
