Project 1

A. Project Title
Paper Mache for Furnitures
B. Introduction:
Paper is one of the most recyclable material in the world. In a struggle to help minimize
the pollution and waste that the current environment has, some establishments has issued
a “no plastic” use. In this case, we see that paper is on the top of the list to replace
plastics and other non-biodegradable materials. Hence, this project was decided. Paper
mache is a simple yet complex way of recycle old newspapers, or scratch papers. It is
mainly made by newspapers, glue, water and some paint. You can do a lot of things with
it.
However, in this project, I focus more on using the paper mache as furniture such as
bowls and vases. Maches mainly cannot get wet by water since it is just molded and held
on by glue. In this case, we can use a water resistant varnish to outline both inside and
outside the bowl and vase for a longer usage time. Aside from this, it is a biodegradable
material, so in this case, these types of furniture come in as cheap and disposable.
