Abstract

This study focuses the Food delivery transportation in Cebu. It also aid and

recognizes the barriers that the Food rider has to face under the worldwide health crisis in

Cebu. This study is viewed as an ethnographical type of Qualitative research for the

reason that the researchers want to find out the barriers of Food delivery Services. The

researchers also conducted questions to different key informants with using the Flat form

in Google documents and sends via messenger to different key informants. Using the

method of questionnaire the researchers gathered data from the key informants in manner

of the City’s protocol and University’s rules for organizing a research study.

Overview

Introduction

Food delivery transportation is a very popular way to accommodate clients. Even

in the history, transporting of goods is a necessity to everyone. Only that a man transports

food, spices and Rum to different area of the region with using the greatest innovation at

the time “The Wheels” and everyone transports foods and spices easily. This begins the

increasing demand for food transportation.

Today in late 21st Century, Food Installations and Other FoodNatics or new FoodCraze

are the beneficiaries for Food Delivery Services. Online sellers are also increasing in

account to a big market opportunity relevant to this kind of process making the delivery

fast and convenient to everyone.

In conducting the study for Food Delivery Service in Cebu is necessary to know as part of

CMBA Business Research every counter measure of the challenges they have to deal of

Food delivery Services and its efficacy in this time playing a very crucial for the

deliverances of food in Cebu.

Rationale

Fast food Delivery in Cebu promotes strategy for the promotion of different Food

Franchise or Small Businesses. Food Delivery Services are also promoted in different

social media, Facebook, advertisement in Youtube, and different Food franchise. The

main objective about Food delivery aside that it is fast and liable for food transportation,

Food delivery services are very helpful that benefits everyone which is the purpose of the

study. The thesis aims a designation of Food delivery services in the future in respect to

the field of business.

Significance of the Study

The following were the students and young researchers who would benefit from

the conduct of this research, to wit:

The result of the study will merit the following.

Customers: After the study the customer will know that they are the ones who benefit

more and the one who makes the business to grow.

Riders: After the study the rider will know how important is their job is.

Restaurant Chiefs: After the study the chiefs will know what are the most common food

the customer will order online.

Future Entrepreneurs: After the study the future entrepreneur can decide invest in this

kind of business.

Scope and Limitation

The study is to focus in the Food delivery Services in Cebu and discuss Efficacy of Food

transportation brought in to your home and also the local norms that everyone is intended

to do as a Driver, Crew, and Manager.

Purpose of the Study

The purpose of this study is to know the methods and styles in manner of Food

Transportation in Cebu in the midst of crisis. Researchers seek data that support to a

solution for delivery barriers and increasing demand of Food Delivery Services in Cebu.

Statement of the Problem

The main point in conducting this research is that Cebu has drastically one of the

users in Food Delivery Services. Anyone can order food items fast and efficient and just a

touch of their phones away from any restaurants, fast-food, Home cooked food online

sellers and deliver it directly without the harm of going out which is very common in

cities especially in Cebu City and Talisay City. It also includes problem like

Research Method

Design

The researchers appointed that the research will use structured questionnaires.

Wherein the answer the questions are based on their experience as a Delivery driver,

Crew, Manager or Supervisor of the business. In this kind of approached the researchers

will come up to a correct and formidable answer.

Instrument

The researchers will gather data as per interview they gathered to the participants.

In this case that everyone is instructed to be at home, researchers will use Messenger for

Video call or chat, or Email an formative message question.

Participants’ Characteristics

The Participants of the study were randomly selected employees in Food Business

Services in Cebu City. There were ten Participants completed the survey, four are the

managers (40%),two are the supervisor (20%),and four are the drivers (40%).Informant

were encoded as Informant1 (I-1),Informant 2 (I-2),Informant 3 (I-3),Informant 4 (I-

4),Informant 5 (I-5), informant 6 (I-6),Informant 7(I-7),Informant 8(I-8),Informant 9(I-

9),Informant 10 (I-10).

Informant 1(I-1) is a male with an age of 28 years old and regularly working in a

Food delivery Service since Year 2015. Informant 1(I-1) has also have sideline job which

he make use he’s Talent in Driving. Informant 1(I-1) a high school Graduate and

unfortunately did not pursue college due to financial problem.

Informants 2(I-2) is a male with an age of 29 years old and manage a Food

Delivery Service. Informants2 (I-2) graduates Baccalaureate Degree of Science in

Accountancy and 5 years in the business.

Informant 3(I-3) is a female with an age of 20 year old and Graduated Bachelor of

Science in Management Accounting at the University Of Cebu-Main Campus. Informant

3(I-3) is Currently Working as a Supervisor of a Food Delivery Service.

Informants 4 (I-4) is female with an age of 40 years old. Informants 4 (I-4) takes a

career of teaching and Graduate Baccalaureate Degree in Bachelor of Science in

Secondary Education

Informants 4 (I-4) currently working in Food Delivery Services as a supervisor

and she Added a quote that ‘ I did used my profession due to some problems but not

being an Advisor teaching students is not a hindrance to success”. Informants 4 (I -4) is

very Selective in her track and the poise of what she is stated is what she stand in life, in

her own thoughts.

Informants 5 (I-5) is a male working in Cebu City with and age of 22 years old.

Informants 5 (I-5) graduates a Baccalaureate Degree in his chosen profession as a Marine

Engineer and now due to the pandemic he decided to reside and work as a Food Delivery

Driver. Informants 5 (I-5) was a Driver just for the time that he’s finish doing all his

requirements back in the field but in some reason he decide to be a regular Driver of Food

delivery Service as for now.

Informants 6 (I-6) is a male with an age of 27 years old. Informants 6 (I-6) did not

finished college for an unfortunate reason. Informants 6 (I-6) is now a regular employee

of Food Delivery Service.

Informant 7 (I-7) is a male with an age of 30 years old and graduated in the

Secondary Level. Informant 7 (I-7) is currently working as Food Delivery Driver in Cebu

City for a year and a half now and enjoys his job.

Informants 8 (I-8) is a male and currently living with his family , Informants 8(I-

8) has an age of 49 years old. Informants 8 (I-8) graduated Bachelor of Science in Office

Administration and now he manage of a food Delivery Services

Informants 9 (I-9) 52years of age , female, from Cebu City, she is a graduate of

Bachelor of Science in management accounting. She is currently working in the food

delivery business for 3 years.

Informant10 (I-10) with an age of 40 years old. Informant10 is a female living in

Cebu City and graduated a Degree in Bachelor of Science Business in Accountancy.

Informant10 is working manager and manage for 3 years in the food delivery services.

Discussion

Overall, most of our Informants have a professional background. Some are

undergrad that work regular in Food deliveries. A total of 10 participants (7 males and 3

females) and all are located working in Cebu.

The different food delivery services worldwide health as perceived by their

customers.

Food delivery services are gaining popularity in the market today. Many

businesspeople are starting to consider food delivery as an excellent business option

because of the revenue. The companies that mentioned by the participants that offers

delivery services specifically in the area of food delivery services are Grab Food , J & T,

Food Panda, Maxim and Lalamove. You just have to order online and wait for your food

to be delivered in your location.

Discussion

In this part of the section, the participants were asked the different delivery as

perceived by their customers. Some of the participants are employees of the company that

are mentioned and shared to us the information we need about delivery services in the

area of food services. Food delivery services play an important role nowadays during this

pandemic while going outside the house to buy food is limited to everyone because of

health protocols.

The Special Category that the company offer to the buyers.

Food delivery, in its simplest terms, refers to a courier service by which an

independent company delivers food to the customers. The items available for delivery

may include grocery items, drinks, desserts, and sides.

As what Informants 2 (P-2) said

“we deliver on time without scratches in the food, we handle your orders with care, we

conduct training on our delivery drivers on how to give customer service.”

Then follow up by the Informants 1 (P-1) said

“our every performance is rated, we receive reviews and concerns to enhance our self. "

While the Informants 4 (P-4) and 5 (P-5) said

" Tipid” meals in bundle offers, clean and healthy foods"

Discussion

In this part of the section, discusses about the special category that the company

offers to the buyers. They offer the best ‘Tipid’ meals, clean and healthy foods and

They deliver it on time while making sure that the food is safe and without scratches.

Nowadays, people love food delivery service because it can be a simple and transparent

business to invest in. Customers can quickly decide on what they want to order, when to

deliver, and how they’re going to make payments.

The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a significant toll on economies and people of

all nations and of all ages, from all walks of life, across the globe. Social media and

virtual meetings, domestically and across the globe, have become the “new normal” as

people strive to keep normalcy in their lives amid pandemic restrictions.

As what Informants6 (P-6) and 8 (P-8) said

”due to the new normal policies that our government has mandated more people

nowadays prefer to order online than going to the shop by themselves. Thus, it creates

more order and deliveries for us. "

Informants 3 (P-3) added that

“There is already an increase in the charges due to increase of company's economic

crisis."

Then follow up by the Informants 7 (P-7) and 10 (P-10) also said that

"strict boundaries, strict implementation of quarantine protocols in meet ups and

handling of goods."

Informants 9 (P-9) added

" our services gets harder , but we need to follow the rules of the government .

Discussion

In this part of the section, discusses how the government policies under new

normal affect delivery services. While the other participants said that covid-19 health

protocols give negative impacts in their business, other participants said the opposite

which is the positive impact of the business because many of the costumer order food

online and it makes their business to have boost orders. With this surge in online sales

and business activity, the government look to remind sellers of their tax obligations.

Delivery Strategies

Deliveries are a must for any food industries in this time. When people order food

online, they want maximum convenience that’s why delivery fast should be a top priority

in the companies.

As what Informants 5 (P-5) said

"Good customer relationship and right attitude towards them attracts more potential

customer via customer satisfaction and at the same time retain”

Informants1 (P-1) added

“If there is a customer location, the customer can easily check if there is no fraud as

much as possible and deliver it minutes before the time the order was expected by the

customer.

Informants3 (P-3) and 8 (P-8) also said

“be on time and also cash on delivery basis "

"I have no strategy, I just deliver Asap., "

Discussion

In this part of the section, discusses about the strategies used by the company as

well as the riders of the food delivery services. It is very important to satisfy the

customers by delivering their orders on time and with the exact items that they order

through online. Because when people order food online, they want maximum

convenience which means you have to deliver it on time, their orders must be complete

when you deliver and be courteous anytime.

Frequent customer order food services.

When the customer was satisfied with your services they are going to order again

and might recommend your company to their friends, siblings or colleagues.

As what Informants 4 (P-4) said that

" I have deliveries daily "

Informants 2(P-2) and 7 (P-7) said

" I have deliveries thrice a week " .

Discussion

In this part of the section, discusses about how frequent customer order food

services. As what one of the participant said that he delivers daily which means people

need food delivery services maybe because of the current situation we had that health

protocols are strictly implemented.

Location of the customer

In order to know where you deliver the food that was ordered by the customer you

must know where their location for you to deliver the food. Every location are been

selected using Google map in the phones of the Food Delivery rider , they can deliver any

location with the use of the costumers GPs and as soon as the order is process you can

check your order thru your phone.

Summary of Discussion

In this part of the section, discusses about the location of the customers where

every rider must have to know. Knowing the location is one of the most important details

that the delivery drivers must know because it is where you deliver the food that the

customer ordered.

The challenges that the delivery drivers encountered during orders and

delivery of foods to the customers.

Sometimes, long lines are an inevitable part of business. While it’s ideal to have

enough staff on hand to accommodate customer needs and avoid complaints, when you

run into delays and serious wait times, try to pacify your customers so they don’t get

frustrated and cancels order.

As what Informant 8 said

" long lines upon ordering thru counter and slow traffic "

Discussion

In this part of the section, discusses the challenges that the delivery drivers

encountered during orders and delivery of foods to the customers.

In this modern age when almost everything comes handy, customers have become less

appreciative and are difficult to please. If you know in advance you’ll have a significant

backlog, warn customers of delays so they aren’t caught off guard and can plan their

schedules accordingly.

A fundamental factor in today’s success in the delivery and logistic market is to

understand and act upon the challenges that many times companies are not willing to

face.

As what participant 10 said

" take a deep breath and keep it cool. Being impatient welcome more problem along the

way. "

" be calm, try to explain "

Informant 8 stated

" communicate with co-workers to substitute forfeited orders. "

Informant 7 shares that

" if it is an unfortuitous event patience is sometimes the answer rather than lose myself. "

Discussion

In this part of the section, discusses the delivery drivers manage to handle the

challenges they encountered. Customer satisfaction is always the top priority of the

company. If there's a delay let customers know how long they can expect to wait and

what you’re doing to fix the problem say sorry for the delay and we’re processing

everything by hand.

Qualitative Results

Food delivery services under worldwide health.

What are the different delivery services of worldwide health as perceived by their

customers?

There are many different delivery services in any company of food business

specially now days that it has Pandemic. Online is the best way to use, through online you

can easily choose any option that you wanted to have, saying that successful deliveries it

means that how the customers are satisfied to the product and services. This also benefits

the customer to stay at home quarantine and without any hassle. Other service quality is

to serve this to the customer as higher impact because this is how the driver handles in a

best quality manner so that if the food arrived in the house costumers will can see that it is

totally handle well.

Government policies under new normal affect delivery services on worldwide health

crisis.

New normal policies that the government mandated and quoted that the food

delivery services have positive and negative impacts. As the Government mandated that

everyone should stay at home to avoid Physical interaction many people prefer to order

online than going to the store themselves to buy. That gives positive impacts to the

Delivery companies because this boosts their sales. In the other hand there are also

negative impacts to the delivery companies about the new normal policy is that

implementation of more strict boundaries which gives a hard time to hand over deliveries

without the proper requirements of the drivers to go across other cities.

How frequent are the customer orders of food business?

It is reported more costumers are using online apps to order prepared meal and

enjoyed with their family. Costumers also Crave for delicious food that will satisfy their

craving. Food delivery service is effective not because they no longer require landline in

every delivery. Innovation of transportation depends of the rider. Now the rider can detect

costumers as well as the costumer can follow up their order with the use of the costumers

Gps and track down the delivery rider. Just a click away of your phone you can enjoy

your food without a sweat, especially in holidays that everyone wants to order their

favorites food and beverages which is the perfect time to contact Food Delivery services

and have your order. Food delivery Services offers also discounts and promo to be able to

achieved goal but only in a limit time only.

How do they have encountered?

First thing is that the customer want is simplicity and convenience. They want the

processor searching, ordering and payment to be as possible. There are many perils of

managing in food delivery business manually and missing deliveries is perhaps the

biggest of them all. Running a food delivery business you can’t manage several orders at

once. Missed deliveries are things which haunt every business due to its adverse effect. If

you don’t have an efficient food delivery system, then managing a bulk orders manually

without a single error is humanly possible. Moreover, when you manage a bulk order

manually then it increases the delivery. That is why it is need to say that to start a food

delivery business you must have a food delivery system.

The delivery riders overcome the challenges they encountered by being calm, patience

and kind. They also maneuver the problem if a costumers are having orders which is very

difficult to add another costumers client to have one big delivery at once, the rider can be

very wise about the issue that’s why they only carry one order at the time. If they made

mistakes it gives them a lesson to do better next time.

Summary Presenting the Qualitative Findings

Food Delivery Services in Cebu having its grasp in the economy and as one of the

popular services in the country. It is very useful for transporting food throughout the year.

It also questions the efficacy of the study under the world health crisis, also for the

monitoring of personnel as well as the crew and the top management of the delivery

services. The participants are chosen by the referrals from a companion to participate

online. Data is later acquired and soon come up to determine barriers for the Food

delivery service under the worldwide health crisis in Cebu.

As what the story stated that Food delivery service is practical in terms of the security for

the costumers. It is helpful in nature of business in terms to how valuable things that are

being transported place to place. Food is a necessity to human which this field will

prolong and operate effectively with the commission of the government.

Research ethics

The time of the research it is a fundamentally important part of the researchers to

observe ethical principles in a educational academic practice. Being well behave in

relation to the participants and very respectful to anyone involve is in regulations of the

researchers, First with respect for the personal background and second is the security of

its identity of which the researcher are obliged to protect without a doubt. General rules

are observed:(1)in respect of the man we must be see equal traits (2) researchers must be

aware in the used verbal communication that can cause the a strong feeling or hostility to

the participants ,(3) fair to every distribution ,(4) truthful to the participants.

Instructions are settled right before the research is conducted. It discusses the procedure,

the system in questionnaire and also the research structure. It isconductedwithout any

force to participate. The participants voluntarily consolidate in this research.

a.) Risk-benefit assessment

Problems arise in the part of researchers filing up the slots for the key participants

knowing every participant’s vacant or free time to introduce the questionnaire. the study

benefit the personnel or riders in Food delivery Services and helps increase the awareness

and approach to the costumers.

b.) Consent, Documentation of Informed consent

The researcher consents in verification for this study. That every data the key

informant are discussed in every question to familiarized foreign or misunderstood words.

The informants are interviewed on the time of their vacant in online questionnaire

using Google Document form and send the link via messenger. It takes 20 – 30 minutes

of interview through messenger Chat and Questionnaire to our participants. No monetary

amount was given in the part of researcher to fair to the participants.

C.)Authorization to Access Private Information

The data is strictly only for the study and with support of the actual consent of the

researcher. All information that our research collected will be shared to our participants.

Researchers will discuss not least but all of the research results in the research time span.

D.) Confidentially Procedures

Researcher stands for the consent and protects the information that the research

gather to every individual participates in the study. In any attempt for dislike behaviour of

the researcher and as group we will take action as serious threat to a personal property.

E.) Debriefings, Communication and Referrals

After the attempts in the questionnaire, participants can ask directly to us and we

respond respectively. Debriefings help the participants to understand more about the

questions. Our participants are given a gratitude for being part of the research.

F.) Incentives of Compensation

The research has nothing to offer involving debt to someone or any reward to

someone as participants thus the researchers will recognize each participant as biggest

roles in the research and appointed gratitude for the contribution of the study.

G.) Conflict of Interest

Our team is very polite in handling the participants. No actions are taken

offensively in the participant’s side and also in the researcher’s part in the research span.

All of the outcome of the data that are collected are ensured by the researchers and by the

researchers used only, any publications and informative
