Order of adjectives
When we have more than one adjective before a noun, we usually place them in
this order:
1. Opinion (expensive, cheap, cute, awful, old-fashioned, smart, trendy, great,
beautiful, elegant, casual, etc.)
2. Size, length or shape (loose, tight, long, short, long-sleeved, short-sleeved,
heavy, light, etc.)
3. Texture (smooth, woolly, furry, fluffy, etc.)
4. Pattern or color (plain, spotty, stripy, handmade, red, green, grey, etc.)
5. Material (cotton, fur, wool, nylon, leather, jean, synthetic, silk, corduroy,
canvas, polyester etc.)
Examples:
He’s wearing loose blue nylon jeans. She’s wearing an awful furry red coat.
