2.5.2 Financial Analysis:

Pan Pacific Electronics is a brand in the electronics sector and works as the trans-national media
company, for producing and selling the goods according to the demands of the customer. The
strategies of a business and the culture of an organization directly impact the individual who plays a
major role in strategy development and focuses on the mission of the business. Financial decisions of
the organization are taken after analyzing the financial statements and the financial ratios which will
define the liquidity or profitability position of the company.

As an internee it is not possible for us to calculate the financial position of the organization
because of the involvement of a lot of department and lack of proper financial system. But
during the internship we roughly get to know that each branch of Pan pacific Electronics earns
almost 7-7.5 Million of revenue in a year. Highest revenue given by the Lahore branch which
is 8-9 Million. And collectively from all the branches they earn income form almost 15.5- 16
Million.

The capital allocation strategy of Pan Pacific Electronics supports both growth ambitions and
returning cash to shareowners. They continue to grow the dividend as a function of free cash
flow with 75 percent payout ratio over time. At the same time it is reinvesting in the business
to support the growth agenda.

2.5.3 Ratio Analysis

20
The financial statement of the company is required for managing the performance of the company.
The financial analysis can be performed by using some ratios. The ratios related to profitability are
used as an instrument to calculate the effectiveness of an organization in earning profit. If the ratios
are higher than the other competitive firms or they are improving then it will be an improvement for
the company. The ratio indicates the financial position of the company. The current ratio of Pan
Pacific Electronics shows that the corporation faces difficulty while meeting the current liabilities.
They are working for the perspective of the long term so there is a need to borrow the fund
from the outsider to meet the current business obligation. The performance of the company can
be measured by the return on equity and the cumulative cash flow of the three-year operational
activities.

Ratio per year 2020 2019 2018 2017

Current Ratio 0.92 0.86 0.92 0.83
Quick Ratio 0.82 0.76 0.801 0.71
Cash Ratio 0.54 0.46 0.491 0.39

2.6 Competitors:
Competitors of this company in Pakistan include

⮚ Philips
⮚ Samsung.

The products and the marketing strategy of this company ranks second in the Pakistan. It is
maintaining an overwhelming presence in Islamabad and Lahore as well. Each passing year it is
focusing on increasing its sales more than its competitors.

⮚ Diversification
⮚ They have experienced staff.
⮚ Their knowledge about their field is too vast and their PR is also very good which is very
important for this field.

type divisions enable the company to focus its efforts and resources to support innovation and
product development.
⮚ Extremely hospitable staff
⮚ Better law and Order situation.

2.7.2 Weakness:

The weaknesses of Pan Pacific Electronics are common but critical. Some of the weaknesses are as
follows:

⮚ It is showing poor marketing skills and weak financial sheets.

⮚ Pricing is also one of its weakness as the products of Sony are not easily affordable.
⮚ There is lack of implementation of rules and regulations in this company i.e. leniency in
punctuality & Staff discipline.
⮚ There are few slots vacant which increases the burden on available staff.
⮚ Limited flexibility of geographic units of the business.
⮚ Lack of management in the office
⮚ Work is not evenly distributed among the employee. There is no one who take responsibility of
effective and efficient work done.

22
2.7.3 Opportunities:

Some of the opportunities which Pan Pacific Electronics can avail are as follows:

⮚ Nowadays customers spend more money on various electronic items, and this opens the door
for the Pan Pacific Electronics to enter into the new markets in different cities of Pakistan other
than Lahore and Islamabad.
⮚ For now, company is just selling the entertainment appliances. It would be an opportunity to
enter into the selling of home appliances as it will give the company a big opportunity to grow
in the markets of different cities of Pakistan.
⮚ Comprehensive training programs can be develop to upgrade the core skills of the existing staff
as well as integrate high quality hiring.
⮚ To improve the motivation of staff a merit-based culture is being promoted. Through
overhauling the manpower recruitment preservation and performance appraisal system.
⮚ Rapid innovation.

2.7.4 Threats:

Some of the threats in the market for Pan Pacific Electronics are as follows:

⮚ Competitors are a major threat for the Pan Pacific Electronics. Many low cost companies are
draining the market share of Pan Pacific Electronics.
⮚ Supply of the new products is not happening consistently which may cause a dip in the sales of
the products.
⮚ As it is basically a Japanese company, so the fluctuations in the foreign exchange can bring the
serious challenges for the company.
⮚ Lack of technology in Islamabad office
⮚ Unsustainable Infrastructure

2.7.5 Final thoughts on SWOT Analysis:

SWOT analysis of Pan Pacific Electronics is showing that due to the quality products and a wide
variety Pan Pacific Electronics can easily jump into the new markets but at the same time their
products are quite expensive and have not such a standard marketing strategy. So it should focus on

23
better marketing strategies and should set prices of the products while considering the current
economy of the country.

2.8 PESTEL Analysis:

It has not successfully integrated into every market of industry due to some flaws and are facing a
number of complications as they are growing. Some factor like political, economic, social and
technological factors are playing important role in the growth of Pan Pacific electronics. These are
described in detail here;

2.8.1 Political factors:

If there is new Government for sure there will be new policies of their own which will also affect the
industry in so many ways because implementation of new laws and policies will change the previous
working pattern. Because SONY is a global brand and operates in several countries, the political
circumstances in each location directly influence SONY’s success which in turn will affect Pan Pacific
Electronics. As it is distributing the products to the different cultural regions of Pakistan so company
is at the mercy of political parties in each region.

2.8.2 Economic factors:

Pan Pacific products are luxury purchases. So products of Pan Pacific Electronics won’t be high on the
list of necessities; so the places where economy is unstable products will sit on the shelf. Raising in
Disposable income, GDP, rise and fall of the middle class also effects any kind of Industry’s economy.

Interest rates, inflation, unemployment, GDP, rise and fall of the middle class also effects any kind of
Industry’s economy. Due to the existing new government policies like rise in interest rate, inflation,
increase of unemployment impact badly the economy of Pan Pacific Electronics.

2.8.3 Social factors:

Due to changes in demographics (age, growth rate, family size Income and education level etc.)
company needs to work accordingly along with innovation. It can only grow if they’re mindful of
customer desire and are working according to the measures. People crave entertainment to relax; this
is exactly what Pan Pacific Electronics offers. From movies to music, it offers several ways for

24
customers to enjoy themselves. It has worked very hard on Public Relation side that is why they have
gained trust in market.

2.8.4 Technological factors:

World is acing fast in technology in so many ways as the online processes have made everything very
handy and approachable to anyone. Pan Pacific is a technology company. It must sell the products
with latest technology. If they don’t, it won’t take long for consumers to know. Word travels fast
online. And once they realize that this company is not entertaining the customers with the latest
products, the criticisms will flood in. Customers might go somewhere else for their entertainment.
After all, consumers have endless options nowadays.

2.8.5 Environmental factors:

The conditions of natural environment affects the Pan Pacific Electronics and its markets. Recently
due to the pandemic of COVID-19 economy of Pakistan is diving so it directly impacts the lifestyle of
the customers. People are out of jobs and are not getting salaries on time due to which people prefer to
spend money on their basic needs and hesitate to buy the luxurious products.

It has also the growth opportunities if they increase their emphasis on the business sustainability. It
can innovate to make its products more environmental friendly. Such products could attract more
customers.

2.8.6 Legal factors:

Pan Pacific Electronics should consider some external legal factors like they can increase their
regulation on e-waste. It is a threat and as well as an opportunity for the company like there would be
an additional effort and expense in reducing the e-waste but at the same time it will strengthen its
brand image.

2.8.5 Final Thoughts on PESTEL analysis:

PESTEL analysis shows a number of opportunities and threats. Most of the external factors present the
opportunities that Pan Pacific Electronics can take. Company can increase its effort to provide more
innovative products to improve the competitive advantage in the market of Islamabad and Lahore. Due
to Covid-19 people are preferring to spend money on their basic needs rather than spending on
luxurious products because COVID has severely affected the consumer’s budget so it’s a great threat
for the Pan Pacific Electronics.

The work place is good and present at the main area of the city. The office is newly constructed and is
well furnished, have good spacing and lighting, the office is well furnished. Sometimes we friends do
chit chat in the lounge and also eat lunch there. And the office is full secure and have well behaved
and well discipline staff. In each office I am provided with the chair, table, notepad, pen and
sometimes with the telephone through which I provides them services.

They welcome their customer who are going to avail services. They have furnished lounge there they
relax until the arrival of operator and booking of their products. It is nearly impossible to get a
booking at the spot so the customers get the booking at least twice a week ago from the sales
department. They do half payments in advance after booking the product and half payment after
purchasing the product on the spot. The customers are their first priority and they understand and treat
their customer in an effective way to retain the loyal customers and to attract the new customers..

4.2 Management Leadership style:

The Directorate General of Pan Pacific Electronics was managed by the main two govern bodies:

Mr. Usman Soni CEO Pan Pacific Electronics

Sir Sheikh Zaid Hamid Director General Pan Pacific Electronics

Basically all the office activities are governs and control by the Director General of Pan Pacific
Electronics.

4.3 Employee attitude and morale:

30
The attitude and morale of the employees toward internees is very positive. They are very friendly and
corporative. They treat us the same way teacher treat us. They teach us and if we are do anything
wrong they scold us.

4.4 Budget and Finance:

They determine the budget and finances according to the income and revenue of all the branches of the
Pan Pacific Electronics.

So as an intern I couldn’t conclude any final figure.

4.5 Findings:

During my internship at Pan Pacific Electronics, I concluded the following things:

4.5.1 Improper guidance system

I found the flaw in documentation and information matters. The flow of information about important
matters weren’t handled properly. Moreover the heads have to deal with this thing on their own as all
the subordinates were looking for dictation.

4.5.2 Qualified Staff

Despite of all the flaws all the staff members were well qualified and know their job very well. They
were helping and kind.

4.5.3 Reward System

The performance reward linkage should be made strong as it is said, “A happy employee delivers
more than he receives from the organization.” The Pan Pacific Electronics policies are so far very
good which cause its employees happier. But unfortunately sometimes due to the disturbance in the
budget and the presence of unnecessary staff at a single designation there will be lack of reward
system.

4.5.4 Punctuality

The staff wasn’t professional with their timings and schedule. They were given a free hand which was
to be used as a perk for better and relax response. Instead the staff misused the facility. It created a lot
of mismanagement.

4.5.5 Less use of Computers:

31
I also conclude that in Pan Pacific Electronics a lot of or almost all work is manually done by
the employees. It may cause the loss of time and energy.

For Example: all the daily information of booking and cancellation of booking of products and
services, payment records is store in file. And the employees maintain daily and monthly files
for record keeping.

4.5.6 Unnecessary staff:

The most unusual thing I witness is the unnecessary staff. There are a lot of employee at lower level
for example many upper division clerks and lower division clerks that’s why for the single designation
there are 3-4 employee but the eligibility of employee is one.

4.6 Recommendations:

I recommend the following things to the Pan Pacific Electronics:

4.6.1 Adaptation of technology:

If the Pan Pacific Electronics is really motivated toward the Expansion in other cities and want to
attract customers from other cities then they have to adopt the new technology so they can
communicate more effectively by promoting on the social media, have mobile app where people can
get all the information about all the appliances. They have to adapt online banking system for the
people who are living out of the city and want home delivery.

4.6.2 Buy Earlier get earlier:

If organization want to attract more market share and customer then they have to change the behavior
of the organization. They must have to set up the rule buy earlier get earlier no matter and should pay
half amount after booking the product and pay total amount after getting the product.

4.6.3 Bank payments:

Some pay advance payments, some pay half, some pay in the head office before use of services, some
pay at the spot after usage. Because there is a lot of person and process are involve in getting the
payment there will be more chance that these payments are not reached at the right destination. A lot
of payments are vanish in this process of corruption.

4.6.4 Proper Planning

32
Company should make a plan to gear up its services.

4.6.5 Proper Guidance

Company should adopt such an induction plan that when a new induction is made there should be a
proper session that can help the new comer to understand the job description and environment of the
company.

4.6.6 Use Marketing and Advertisement Techniques:

They must have to adopt marketing and Advertisement techniques to attract more domestic customers.
