CASE STUDY FOR CORRELATION AND REGRESSION

Name: JEFFREY B. VILLANGCA   Date: DECEMBER 12, 2020

Case:

A researcher got interested in studying the impact of classroom

management strategies employed by teachers in teaching Chemistry
concepts.  Four factors were hypothesized to account on students’
learning, namely: managing classroom behavior, teaching techniques,
instructional planning and support system, and working with parents.
Classroom management strategies were quantified using the Teacher
Classroom Management Strategies Questionnaire (TCMSQ).  Students’
learning was assessed using a validated achievement test in Chemistry.  A
group of 120 senior high school students were made respondents of the
study.  To determine which factors significantly impact on students’
learning, the data were subjected to regression analysis.  Results of the
regression are summarized in the following tables:  Analyze and interpret
the results (Tables 1, 2, and 3).  Use a  .05 level of significance.

Analyze and Interpret the Results

The teaching technique and working with parents have an important role on
learner’s learning, based on table 1 using (?) correlation test
On table 2, it shows that the multiple linear regression was used. It shows
that factors teaching technique and working with parents are important
evocators. Teaching technique has a higher effect than working with
parents as we compare the standardized data. (beta: 0.591) vs (beta:
0.364)
Table 3 is showing that the F-test is very significant. From here, it can be
assessed that the model used explains a important amount of the variance
of a student’s learning.

Regression equation:
Student’s learning = 60.286 + 0.182 (Managing Class-room Behavior) +
5.519 (Teaching Technique) + 0.773 (Inst’l Planning & Support System) +
1.641 (Working with Parents)
