There are installation problem in ArmCAD 2005 UNICODE EDITION which occurs in some

circumstances – the ArmCAD 2005 menu and toolbar is missing.

This article explains the ways for avoiding this problem and ways for overriding this problem if occurred already.

This problem occurs to customers which already have installed program ArmCAD 2005 under AutoCAD 2004,2005
or 2006 and now are switching to AutoCAD 2007 and ArmCAD 2005 UNICODE EDITION.

The cause for this problem is migration (transferring of configurations and settings) from previous version of
AutoCAD to AutoCAD 2007. During the first run of newly installed AutoCAD 2007, in the case existing of some
previous versions of AutoCAD, the program will offer migration of settings.

The following dialog will occur:

If you choose NOT to migrate “User Profiles” (as shown on the picture – unchecked check box) the
problem will NOT occur.

But, if AutoCAD 2007 was already installed and after the first run of ArmCAD 2005 the menus and toolbar are
missing, then you have two options:

1. uninstalling of ArmCAD-a and uninstalling of AutoCAD 2007. After that install the AutoCAD 2007 and in
migration dialog choose not to migrate user profiles as described earlier. After that, you can perform
installation of ArmCAD 2005 UNICODE EDITION.

2. if you do not want to reinstall AutoCAD 2007, you can perform some kind of reparation – as follows:

- uninstall the ArmCAD

- run the ‘pure’ AutoCAD 2007 (trough AutoCAD’s icon on desktop)
- start the “menuload” command from the command line. The following dialog will occur:
One by one, select “ARMCAD4” group (and “ARMCAD4DEMO” group if exists) and unload by clicking the
“Unload” button.
After that click on “Browse” button and following dialog will occur:

One by one, select ArmCAD’s CUI files (that which names begins with A4) and after marking it, delete each of
them (on keyboard – “Delete” key, or right mouse click and “Delete” from drop down menu) After that, exit the
dialog on “Cancel”, close previous dialog and exit the AutoCAD.

- Install ArmCAD 2005, and there should not be that problem.

The reason for occurring of this is in the way in organizing and creation of ArmCAD’s toolbars and menus.
They are dynamically created during the installation and if necessary during the initialization. Menus and
toolbars of ArmCAD, which are transferred from AutoCAD’s previous version, obstructs this of process,
because they occupying the same names as menus and toolbars from version trying to install. Automatic
deleting of this menus and toolbars from inside the program is not reliable and safe, so we were not able to
make absolute robust installation process.
