■PREFACE
™Before the SRX-101A Medical Film Processor is installed it is necessary to carry out,
plumbing, electrical and light/dark room partition construction work.
™This Pre-Installation Guide has been written so that these preliminary projects will be
done so as to conform exactly to SRX-101A specification.
™We strongly recommend that the user facility manager, the professional construction
contractor, and the Konica representative meet and thoroughly go over the points
presented in this manual before the preliminary construction work begins.
™Your Konica representative will be happy to provide you with any further necessary
information and answer any technical questions concerning the following construction
projects.

1 EXPLANATION OF CAUTION LABELS
●Caution labels imply the degree of the risk which may arise from incorrect use of
this product.
●There are 3 degrees of caution labels, and each is used depending on the level
of risk and damage caused by incorrect use and mishandling.

DANGER : If failed to avoid the risk, this implies the imminent danger level
which may lead to serious injury including a loss of life.

WARNING : If failed to avoid the risk, this implies the danger level which may
lead to serious injury including a loss of life.

CAUTION : If failed to avoid the risk, this implies the danger level which may
lead to moderate damage or light injury. Also it is used when a
physical damage alone is expected.

■ INSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS
1. Prepare a power supply outlet of AC 220/230/240V, more than 10A exclusively for SRX-
101A. An insufficient power supply outlet may cause overheating and/or smoke
emission in the field.
2. Lay the power cord out so that it will not be tripped over and will not hit other pieces of
equipment. Plugs and cords bent or frayed from constant abrasion and/or trampling
may cause damage due to overheating and/or smoke emission in the machinery.
3. Use only direct wall/floor socket connections to power the SRX-101A. Hooking the
processor into desk-top sockets, double connectors, or multi-socketed connectors may
cause damage due to overheating and/or smoke emission in the machinery.
4. If an extension cord is required, use only cords that have been approved according to
local public utility standards. Improper extension cords may cause damage due to
overheating and/or smoke emission in the machinery.
5. Ground the SRX-101A to prevent electrocution accidents. Avoid the possibility of
electrocution or even explosions by not grounding the processor to any of the following
places:
1) Gas pipes
2) Lightning rods
3) Ground lines specially designed for telephones
4) Any water line or attachment
6. Keep all flammable and combustible materials away from the SRX-101A.
7. Keep direct forced air from heating and cooling equipment away from the SRX-101A.
8. Install the SRX-101A in a space that is well ventilated.
9. Use the SRX-101A on a perfectly flat, sturdy surface with a minimum of vibration.
10. Install the SRX-101A in a position accessible for easy operation, checking and
maintenance.
11. Carry the main body of the SRX-101A on a conventional hand carrier by two persons.

Should this manual become not readable due to any reason,


replace it with a new one which is available at charged basis.

1. CHECK POINTS for PRE-INSTALLATION

1) Design your layout so that the SRX-101A will function smoothly within the work flow of
the whole X-ray department.
2) Together with constructing a foundation for the main unit, make preparations for water
supply, water drainage, exhaust and electrical outlets so that they can be easily
connected to the processor.
3) First, re-check your contract with the power company supplying your facility. Negotiate
any necessary contract changes and install any additional electrical lines in compliance
with the SRX-101A specification.
4) Secondly, make certain that the wash water volume, quality and temperature conditions
required by the SRX-101A can be fully satisfied by your present water supply system.
5) When utilizing city or other public water utilities, make sure to hire only mechanical
contractors who are recognized by these public authorities when constructing water
outlets for the SRX-101A.
6) Remember that used developer and fixer solutions must be disposed of in the specified
manner. If you do not have your own certified disposal facility, make arrangements with
a licensed professional who handles processing solution disposal.

4-1. Space Requirements

4-2. Setting the Main Unit in place (Refer to the Diagram Below)
q Place the Main Unit on the Stand (Option), a desk or a work bench so that the supply
and drainage valves are easily accessible.
w The SRX-101A, when filled with processing solutions, weighs approximately 47 kg.
Make sure that the support to be used is more than capable of bearing this weight and
also resistant to the corrosive effects of the developer (PH 11) and fixer (PH 4)
chemicals.
e Do not install the processor in high vibration areas or where it cannot be properly
leveled.
r Place the SRX-101A at a height from the floor that fulfills both of the following
conditions.
a. The liquid surface inside the replenisher tank is below the full marks of the main unit
processing tanks.
b. The top of the main unit support is less than 130cm from the floor or other surface
where the replenisher tank is standing.
t Using the accessory anti-slip rubber pads.
Drainage Valves a. The rubber pads have been provided to keep
the SRX-101A from sliding around on table
top surfaces. Insert the support legs into the
pads when using the processor on facility
work tables or desks.
b. Do not use the pads when using the Stand
Adjustable Stands (option) specially designed for the SRX-101A.

5. REQUIRED PRE-INSTALLATION CONSTRUCTION WORK
5-1. Partition Wall Construction
1) When installing the processor between light and dark rooms, it is necessary to
construct a wall partition.
2) The opening in the partition to accommodate the processor should be ideally 1300mm
up from the floor and 850mm wide as the finishing size.

3) Build a wooden frame to hold the light shields. Make sure that the frame is flush with the
wall on the side where the light shields are to be inserted.
4) If the partition thickness exceeds 100 mm cut a 60-degree notch out of the wall to inset
the frame. (See the diagram below.)

5-2. Water Supply Work


q Connect a reducer bushing with a packing to the facility's water utility outlet.
w Connect the processor's water supply hose to the reducer bushing.

r If the water pressure is below 29.4kpa(0.3kgf)/cm2 or over 0.7R/min,wash water cannot be
maintained.
In this case, a malfunction may occur. Increase the water pressure.
t If the water pressure is exceeding 784kpa(8kgf)/cm2, use flow restrictor to reduce the
water pressure.
Excessive water pressure applied to the water line may cause the damage of the hoses.

5-3. Water Drainage Work

1) The water drainage pipe should be of outer diameter 60mm hard PC tubing, located
free from the desk, and rising above the floor from between 50 to 100mm.
2) Run the accessory hoses from the main unit to the drain and cut off any excess.

3) Lay the hose so that the drainage flow is as smooth as possible. Keep the hoses from
bending down to the floor at the drain. This can be done by installing the drain pipe as
close to the main unit as possible.
4) Take the proper measures to keep the drain pipe clean and odor free at all times.

5-4. FIX/DEV Drainage Work

1) Make arrangements to dispose of used DEV(developer) and FIX(fixer) solutions.


2) If you do not have your own certified disposal facility, make arrangements with a
licensed professional who handles the processing solution disposal.

5-5. Room Conditions
q The acceptable room conditions for operating the SRX-101A are :
Temperatures between 15: and 30:
Humidity levels between 30%RH and 75%RH
w In order to maintain the above room conditions, the facility where the SRX-101A is located
should be equipped with a ceiling mounted ventilation fan and a ventilation opening in the
wall below the height of the processor.

The ventilation wall opening should be as close to the processor as possible and as far
away from the ventilation fan as possible. Use light shielding materials for both the fan and
wall openings.
e Keep all fluorescent materials and combustible materials (thinner, benzene, gasoline.etc)
away from the processor. To prevent fires, store such dangerous materials in another
room.
r Divert heat from burners and space heaters away from the processor. Divert forced air
from air conditioning equipment away. Being exposed to direct blast of hot or cold air,
poor film processing quality may result.

5-6. Power Source and Wiring
q Changing the terminal Board to meet Voltage Requirements
Follow these procedure in changing the connection to terminal board TB1 located
on the top of the electrical components unit.

w Prepare a power supply outlet of AC 220/230/240V, more than 10A exclusively for
SRX-101A. An insufficient power supply outlet may cause overheating and/or
smoke emission in the field.
e The power source voltage to the processor should be within a range of ±10% of the
specified requirement. The frequency (Hz) value should be within a range of ±2.5%
of the specified requirements.
r Lay the power cord out so that it will not be tripped over and will not hit other pieces
of equipment. Plugs and cords bent or frayed from constant abrasion and/or
trampling may cause damage due to overheating and/or smoke emission in the
machinery.
t Use only direct wall/floor socket connections to power the SRX-101A. Hooking the
processor into desk-top sockets, double connectors, or multi-socketed connectors
may cause damage due to overheating and/or smoke emission in the machinery.
y If an extension cord is required, use only cords that have been approved according

5-7. Installation of Sink
q Install a wash sink nearby the processor to keep it clean and to mix film processing
solutions.
w The wash sink should be at least 700mm long, 500mm wide and 200mm deep.
e The sink should be made of material highly resistant to concentrated acid and alkaline
solutions. We recommend either stainless steel (SUS 304, 316) or hard polyethylene.
r We also recommend a hot water line, since the processing racks are much easier to clean
thoroughly with warm water.
t Also use a wash sink with a plug, since heavily soiled racks are best cleaned by soaking
them in warm water.
