 269  Final  Exam  

 
Answer  all  questions  and  submit  by  5pm  of  June  16,  2020  in  order  that  your  grade  
may   be   encoded   for   this   semester.   It   is   best   that   you   get   a   numerical   grade   in  
graduate  school.  
 
If   your   current   situation   prevents   you   from   submitting   on   the   due   date,   IT   IS   OK.  
You   may   submit   by   March   30,   2021.   However,   you   should   be   enrolled   during   the  
coming  semesters  for  you  to  submit  the  final  exam  considering  the  adjusted  course  
requirements.  If  this  is  your  last  subject,  you  have  to  enroll  for  residency.  
 
You  have  the  complete  notes  in  our  class.  You  may  also  do  additional  research.  Make  
a  4  page  summary  (A4  size)  of  the  topic  assigned  to  you.  This  summary  is  intended  
to:  
-­‐ give   the   engineer   a   quick   glance   and   a   guide   on   the   specific   ground  
improvement  method  
-­‐ can  serve  as  a  design  tool  and  also  a  project  management  tool  when  doing  
fieldwork  and  inspecting  an  on  going  ground  improvement  project  
 
Some  guidelines:  
-­‐ your   submission   will   be   shared   in   our   class   (of   5   students)   and   I   do   hope  
that  it  can  serve  useful  to  everyone  in  the  future  
-­‐ be  creative,  you  can  insert  illustrations,  diagrams,  colors,  etc.  
-­‐ ‘it  is  easy  to  make  a  60  slide  powerpoint  –  but  difficult  to  summarize  
it  into  4  pages’  –  this  is  the  challenge
