mode = 3 median – 2 mean
Q2. The shift supervisor at a local manufacturing plant collected data on the number of defects
coming off an assembly line over the past eight weeks (40 work days). She summarized the data
in the following table.

# of Errors 0 1 2 3 4 5
# of Weeks 1 4 7 16 10 2
What is the average number of errors per night?
Q3. The finishing process on new furniture leaves slight blemishes. The following table
displays a manager’s assessment of the number of blemishes in the finish of new furniture.

12 7 3 6 4 4 6 2 7 2 5 6 3 2 7
Using the above data with minimum and maximum value as two ends, construct a frequency
distribution for the above data. Use the class intervals as 2-5, 5-8, 8-11 and 11-14.

Q5. A researcher was ascertaining the expenditure of households incurs on electricity each
month. A sample of 50 households was considered and the calculated the mean as Rs. 1760.
However, on careful scrutiny it was found that two of the figures for households were recorded as
Rs. 1850 and Rs. 2310 instead of Rs. 1750 and Rs. 2530 respectively. Reevaluate the new average
of the sample.

Q6. The following are the amount of time spent on the internet ( minutes per day) collected from
