From your

Before you can identify the smallest amount, you need to convert
the questions to answers in the same form:

1 10% = 0.1
0.20 = 0.2
1/100 = 0.01 = 0.1 x 0.01
200 ÷ 1000 = 0.2
0.1 x 0.01 = 0.001

2 400g = 400g remember 1kg = 1000g

½ x 1kg = 500g
¼ of 4kg = 1000g = 2/8 of 1kg
0.3kg = 300g
8 of 1kg = ¼ of 1kg = 250g
2

3 6 x 8 = 48
9 x 6 = 54
1/20 of 90 = 45
25% of 84 = ¼ of 84 = 21
= 25% of 84
0.1 x 300 = 1/10 of 300 = 30

4 3 litres = 3000ml Remember 1 litre = 1000ml

4000ml = 4000ml
0.9 litres = 900ml
9ml = 9ml = 9ml
5% a litre = 5% of 1000ml = 50ml

5 Add zero’s to the end of the decimal numbers so that it is easier

to compare them:

1.630
1.067 = 1.06
1.700
1.060
1.600

6 Modal = mode = most popular choice

The option with the largest segment of the pie chart is: rice
7 Rice = 18
Chips = 6 12 children
Therefore 18 – 6 =

8 12 out of 48 children in total = ¼ 25%

9 18/48 = 9/24 = 3/8
10 If 32 more children were asked, 32 + 48 = 80 children were asked
altogether. The original proportion that chose rice was 3/8 (Qu 9) so
we need 3/8 of 80:

Remember: to find a specific fraction, divide by the bottom and 30 children

multiply by the top

80 ÷ 8 = 10
10 x 3 =

11 A 5 sided shape is a Pentagon

12 2 pairs of parallel sides, different lengths = Parallelogram
13 2 pairs of parallel sides, equal lengths = Rhombus (not diamond)
14 A triangle with 3 equal sides/angles = Equilateral Triangle

15 Not a cube as not all of the sides are of equal length =

Cuboid
16 Angles round a point = 360°

108° + 106° = 214° x = 146°

360° – 214° =

17 Angles on a line = 180°

65° + 52° = 117° x = 63°
180° – 117° = 63°

18 Angles in a triangle total 180°

65° + 70° = 135 y = 45°
180° – 135° = 45°

19 Using the answer y = 45° and the fact that angles on a line = 180°
39° + 45° = 84°
180° – 84° = 96° z = 96°

20 Angles in a quadrilateral = 360° (recognise the right angles)

90° + 90° + 105° = 285° 360° – 285° = 75°

a = 75°

21 Product means multiply. Identify the pairs of numbers that

multiply together to make 36

1 x 36 2 x 18 4 and 9
3 x 12 4 x 9 (difference between the numbers is 5)
6x6

22 Difference means subtract: ? – 22 = 17 22 + 17 =

39
23 The opposite of taking the square root is squaring: 9 x 9=
81
24 20% = 5 so to find 100% we need to multiply by 5: 5 x 5 =
25
25 2 = 1 = 25% = 15
8 4
To find 100% we need to multiply by 4: 100% = 15 x 4 = 60
26 30 The completed table should be as follows:

Length Width Area Perimeter

9cm 3cm 27cm2 9cm + 9cm + 3cm + 3cm = 24cm
4cm 4cm 16cm2 4cm + 4cm + 4cm + 4cm = 16cm
8cm 7cm 56cm2 8cm+ 8cm + 7cm + 7cm = 30cm

Remember: Area of a Rectangle = Length x Width

Perimeter = Total distance around the edge

31 35 Before we can order the fractions we need to give them a common

denominator or change them all into percentages or decimals

3 = 75%
4

3 = 1 = 50%
6 2

2 = 4 = 40%
5 10

7 = 87.5% as 1/8 = 12.5%

3 = 30%
10

In order of size, largest first, we have: 7, 3, 3, 2, 3

8 4 6 5 10

36 1 year = 365 days

To find 1/5 of 365, we need to divide by 5 365 ÷ 5 = 73 days
37 To get from 8.08pm to 7.07am we have to add 10 hours 59 mins
38 Remember that ≥ 4 means bigger than or equal to 4
(4, 4, 5, 6) = 4/6 2/3
39 The modal number is the most frequent number, which is 4
40 A prime number is a number divisible only by 1 and itself:
(numbers 2, 3, 5 on the spinner) 3/6 = 1/2
41 Using the definition of a prime number from Qu 40, the lowest
prime number is 5
42 22 = 4 and 82 = 64 so either 4 or 64
43 13 x 3 =
