Dear Parents and Carers,

With effect from this afternoon, we have now been instructed to close the school to almost
all children until further notice. As advised by the government, we will do all we can to stay
open for the children of key workers (e.g. NHS staff, police, others in frontline services as released
by the publication) and children with certain needs. All other children will need to stay at
home, so we ask that you do not send your child into school from Monday onwards. In
addition, if one parent is a key worker and the other is not, the child is only to be sent to school, if
required. Please note that this is a national closure – as you may have heard in the news – so
while it is a challenging situation, we are not alone. We’ll re-open fully as soon as we can and will
let you know when this is by email.

What we’ll continue doing while your child is at home

Learning should never stop. Our aim at Weald Rise is to develop our pupils so that they have a
passion for education and are life-long learners who do not allow barriers to stop them from
learning. Currently we are facing a real crisis which is unprecedented.

At Weald Rise, we are embracing this challenge and using this as an opportunity to learn, grow,
improve and develop. I welcome you to our new online learning community which will help children
at all times to expand their learning beyond the classroom. This will continue to grow and develop
so that it can support our pupils to continue to make progress. We welcome feedback which you
can send to your child’s class teacher through Seesaw. This will support us in continuing to develop
this new resource. If you are having difficulties accessing the online platform, please let the school
know so that we can support you with access. Our school office will be open from daily or
alternatively please email us at office@wealdrise.harrow.sch.uk.

To support families, we have attached an example timetable that you can use to structure your
day. It is expected that all children engage in the home learning activities set by the teacher. Enjoy
learning and remember to continue to rise to the challenge and strive for excellence.

If your child usually receives Free school meals we are in the process of registering all children
entitled to free school meals. As soon as this is available, we will send you a link by parent pay,
which will enable you to be able to print a 2 weekly Free school meal vouchers which you can
use at Tesco stores. For those parents who do not have access to parent pay please call the
school to confirm when you are able to pick up your voucher. Our records show that there are
only a few parents in this category. Please note that on collection you will be given an activation
code which will enable you to access parent pay and therefore save you the trouble of coming to
school. Parent pay can be accessed from smart phones as well.
