LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEET 1

Computer Systems Servicing Grade 12

Name of Learner: ________________________________ Date: ________________

Grade Level: ____________________________________ Section: _____________

I. Introductory Concept

A computer network is a collection of computers linked together so that they may

communicate with one another and share resources, data, and applications.
Client-server networks have one or more central computers, or servers, that retain
the data and administer resources.
Peer-to-peer networks connect computers such that each computer distributes all or
part of its resources.

II. Learning Competencies

Lesson 1: Set-up Computer Server (Set-up User Access)– Quarter 1-Week 1

TLE_IACSS9-12SUCS-IIIa-e-37
1. Define a server;
2. Explain the types of servers.
3. Discuss the network server setup: installation and configuration

III. Activities

Let’s Try This!

Activity 1. Jumble Bumble!
Direction: Unscramble the jumbles using the clues provided. Eliminate letter/s in the jumbled
word/s to get the correct word. Write it on the blank.
___________1. NTLIDEC is a computer that connects to the server.
___________2. REVERSA is a computer or computer program which manages access to a
centralized resource or service in a network.
___________3. Two or more computers that are connected with one another for the purpose
of communicating data electronically is called REMOCUPTH TENSORWKP.
___________4. NTLIDEC REVERSA is a computer that uses server to store data,
manage/provide resources and control user access.
___________5. Computer network mainly used at home and small offices is
REEPPETOEERD

Activity 2. DO YOU KNOW ME? NAME ME!

Directions: Identify the characteristics presented if it is peer- to- peer network or client server
network . Write P2P for peer- to- peer and CS for client server on the blank provided.
______1. It does not require network operating system.
______2. Easier to recover files and create backups.
______3. Do not require centralized servers.
______4. Speed of internet connection can be affected while uploading and downloading
simultaneously.
______5. Expensive and harder to maintain.

Activity 3: DRAW ME PLEASE!

Directions: Draw the given situation. See rubrics for scoring.
1. In a small office, there are 10 computers aligned in two rows 5 computers each row.
Organize the computers using peer to peer network.

2. One computer and one tablet in six departments ( Production, Research and
Development , Purchasing, Human Resource Management and Accounting and
Finance ) of a certain company are connected to a server named LKR Company.
Organize the computers using Client-server network.
