STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Greetings from my side to your renowned university. I am Ravi kapoor from Hoshiarpur (Punjab), India.
Through life's experiences; I have come to realize the importance of business and its management and
accounting in the world. Numerous newspapers dedicate more headlines to financial issues in comparison to
other topics. This has led to the realization that without good knowledge of financial management concepts
and audit due diligence, financial industry and economy of the world could fall to its knees, for example, the
recent financial crisis which started in 2007, and impacted the globalization process across the world. These
factors have influenced my decision to study Business administration degree particularly in the area of
international banking and finance at university of Westminster.

During my undergraduate course, I figure out how and why I can succeed in financial world. To some extent, I
have a great enthusiasm towards accounting, indirect taxation, entrepreneurship, quantative methods,
economics and financial aspect which play a crucial role in my academic achievement. I got competitive
marks in advanced accounting, cost accounting, management accounting, business quantative methods,
financial management, and operation research as the person in my academic session amongst 2% in the
respective grade of these subjects. I have always had a logical, organized and practical way of thinking, as well
as a competitive nature, and numbers has always appealed to this characteristics. Besides, I did a lot of
readings to accelerate my reading skills and I gained it as my one of hobby. Studying quantative methods and
accounting extensively at graduation alongside this course has helped to increase my understanding of
financial calculations, i.e. ratios and cash flow forecasts. In addition to this, I also indulged myself in topics like
company’s future and present valuation through discounted cash flow and present value technique. It reflects
all my hard work, dignity and dedication. The Business course has provided me with the opportunity to
broaden and increase my knowledge with regards to economic and financial issues. Through numerous case
studies, I identified that customer satisfaction is a key priority within business organizations. Therefore in
order for a business to be ramp up, they need to keep their customers happy.

It is my strong personal belief that: "Knowledge is power", the road to success lies through education, and in
the financial market, knowledge about the economy and the risks involved is crucial if you want to succeed.
This has led me to admire and appreciate renowned economists, and professors like -Dr.Raghu Ram Rajan
(veteran governor of Reserve Bank of India) and Arvind Subramanian (EX Economic advisor Government of
India), leading economists only in India but around the globe. Personally, I would like to work for an
international leading bank as a consultant researcher facing different variety of wide challenges whilst
working in different environments across different businesses. This will give me the opportunity to deal with
financial decisions that will help increase corporate value whilst managing financial risks.

The desire to make my community a better place encouraged me to undertake voluntary work. I am currently
working as a Youth organizer in my local city, and that gave me an opportunity to organize various seminars
and events for enhancing awareness among people(commonly among youth) to be generous towards other
human beings for donating the blood, and platelets to the underprivileged section of society with an aim of
bringing the society together. This lead to develop my team working and social skills. It was important for me
to be able to work effectively with the other members in order for the event to fetch success. Moreover, I help
to manage the finances and ensure that our budget would cover the required expense. We recently
volunteered in a Blood Donation' camp, which was aimed specifically to gather youth and increase their
morale towards volunteer activities, and was sponsored by local government, and by our aid organization.
During such events, we would socialize with people, something that I personally enjoyed and felt like it
boosted their confidence and self-esteem. It also helped to develop valuable skills such as organizational skills
and good communication skills.

After graduating, I took job as an account executive, where I prepare and maintain important financial
reports. Preparing financial statements and evaluating financial operations to recommend best-practices,
identify issues and strategize solutions, and help organizations run efficiently are my routine tasks. But, at the
same time, I felt the need to advance my level of expertise equipped with sound technical know-how in the
area of corporate finance and management accounting. And then, I start exploring European universities and
then, I came to know that studying there is having an impeccable experience as compared other continents
after considering the quality, research academia and stranded of education.

Here are some reasons for my chosen of the University of Westminster. First, it is one of the oldest
universities in the central London, and is known internationally for the quality of its programs. Perhaps, it has
a lot of coordination among other universities across different continent that avail semester exchange, and
even internship assistance to emerge the students to take experience of studying in two different
environments, and realize the workplace and cultural variances.

Second, The Master of international banking and finance program offers a combination of corporate finance,
auditing, accounting and quantative data studies in order to enhance career prospects and extend knowledge
of both disciplines. The courses you provide will strengthen my employability in the areas of financial
management and management administration while providing a professional qualification. I hope that taking
this course at university will equip me with the necessary intellectual knowledge and practical skills needed
when making economical or financial decisions at managerial level. This will be essential for any career path
within the finance industry.
