During my time as a student, I realized my desire to work in a challenging environment.

I was always keen

on accounting and finance and I was unsure of the major I wanted to pursue. After a few finance classes, I
realized that I preferred pursuing it over accounting. Since then, I have focused my studies on finance,
taking relevant modules and participating in activities to sharpen my skills in the discipline. I believe that
finance has many aspects that will help shape future global economics that I wish to explore. I am currently
applying to the Masters Degree in Finance Program at the University of Texas in Dallas (UT).

I opted to pursue my masters degree from UT because the institution is renowned for producing top
graduates who become business leaders in various fields. The School of Business has a student-centered
master’s degree program, with tutors focusing on strengthening their students’ weaknesses hence
enhancing their competence and abilities. The university has a diverse students body and alumni network,
and I desire to form personal and professional networks for future business and employment prospect
consultations.

In the short run, I intend to complete this Masters Degree program and develop more skills in strategic and
financial planning, business analysis and financial services and reporting. I plan to undertake internships o
gain experience on the practical aspects of operating a business and working in a formal setting. I plan to
advance my organizational leadership and management skills by participating actively in institutional and
departmental projects. I hope to acquire enough skills to practice as an astute Financial Analyst in the long
run. I hope to help business understand their financial position and give advice on prudent fiscal
management.

My attributes will also help me excel in this program. I am innovative, focused and hardworking. I am
experienced in compiling and reviewing and compiling various data types to support strategic planning and
market analysis. I have excellent interpersonal skills and I enjoy working in diverse teams. Additionally, I am
a fast learner with the ability to adapt to different working environments.

I have faced various challenges in my quest to pursue a career in finance. I had to work throughout my
undergraduate studies, working for three days and attending school for four days every week. I spent a
significant amount of time in hospital seeking treatment and procuring surgeries, further complicating my
studies. However, my resilience and dedication helped me overcome these challenges to graduate with
honors.
