STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

“Don't go where the path leads you. Go where there is no path and leave a trail behind.”
This is what I find most appealing in my life. As a student of Bachelor of business
administration, I look to graduate study to widen my perspective, which would facilitate in
fulfilling my ambition of pursuing a Master’s program in business administration.

Observing various developments in business administration fascinated me and prompted

me to choose this line for my future field of study. The inevitability of the knowledge of
business administration field be it finance, marketing, human resource management etc.,
vindicated my choice and obviated my need to search for an undergraduate major. I have
completed my undergraduate degree in business administration at the Maharaja Sayaji Rao
University (MSU), Gujarat, India which is one of the most prestigious and finest institutions
for imparting business education in India. I was given a strong foundation in core subjects of
Marketing Management, Cost Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Business Taxation,
Personal Finance and many more. We studied almost 45 different subjects related to commerce
in the past three years.

My objective is to put forward a diligent endeavor and excel in the field of business
administration and contribute through research in this highly challenging field. It is my strong
belief that Graduate Study is indispensable for acquiring a deep understanding and insight into
the subject. I feel that my undergraduate curriculum has given me sufficient exposure to
various possibilities for the Master’s program. Graduate study will not only provide me
advanced knowledge about the field but also prepare me to be a good researcher and teacher in
the field of commerce.

Integrity, both in thought and action has meant everything to me. My strong set of value
has helped me grow into a responsible citizen with a keen sense of duty. It has also augmented
my thirst for a newer horizon. This course is one of them. It’s a pathway to newer grounds,
pivotal to both my professional and personal agenda.

One of the other sources of learning has been my itch to travel. It has always been my
endeavor to align my personal goals with my professional ones, as I believe; same principles
and values guide both. I believe both have a significant role in allowing me to experience life
and its myriad hues.

As a person, I like to avoid doing what the majority of the population does and tread on
lesser known paths and towards things that interest me and not what all the others do or follow.
With a keen interest and enthusiasm towards the field of Commerce, I have always wanted to
participate in this journey towards studying the Business fundamentals. With this sublime goal,
I have always strived to excel in my studies and acquire knowledge in the field of business
administration.

The theoretical & practical expertise of the faculty in the University will add to my vision.
Understanding this quest needs considerable persistence & an infinite capacity to learn. And if
at all I can assure you of anything, it is my desire to learn, evinced by the fact, that I have

always tried learning, whenever an opportunity presented itself at all points in my life. I have
acquired some practical technical knowledge through working with different organization but
there is still too much to know and countless milestones to achieve. I am always curious to
implement my theoretical knowledge to the practical world.

My interest and zeal are not confined to the academic curriculum. As a schoolgirl, I always
took the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities whenever it presented itself in
my way. I used to go for travelling during the summer holidays. I enjoyed being a part of the
cultural event and I was also a student alumni active member at my school level. At college
level, I participated in various events both as member of the Organizing Team and as a
participant. This helped me nurture organizational and inter personal skills. I had also been a
part of all the cultural festivals organized by my college as an active participant in many events.

The Master in business administration (HRM or FINANCE) at your University will

supplement me to attain my goals. This yields from the fact that it is among the top
universities in the U.S.A. having a legacy of academic excellence; backed by expert full-time
research faculties, which includes numerous staff with adequate experience.

All these factors have got me to believe that this course is best suited to attain my career
goal. I strongly believe that I will be given the privilege to pursue my studies at your
University. The program will provide me the kind of exposure needed to broaden my thinking
and undo my insular prejudices that might be still prevalent in me. The essence of university
education lies in the success of the symbolic relationship between the student and his/ her
department. It is with this in mind that I am looking forward to a long and rewarding
relationship with your university. In a university of such confluence of people from every
culture, nationality, religion and ideology, I am sure that exposure to these kinds of diverse
influences would aid in the overall development of my personality. I also believe that I have
better chances of updating and scaling up my knowledge in the University through this
program.

In conclusion, I hope that I will be given the privilege to pursue my graduate studies at
your University and avail of the excellent infra-structural facilities and research opportunities
it has to offer. If provided with such an opportunity, I would acquit myself creditably in your
stimulating academic environment and thereby contribute my own mite to the academic
milieu at your department. I look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with
your University. Thanking you for giving me the opportunity to express my views.
