Activity 1.1
Direction: Identify the following concept of communication.
COMMUNICATION 1.A two-way process by which information is exchanged
between and among individuals through a common system of symbols, signs and
behaviour (Martinez 1).
VERBAL COMMUNICATION 2. It refers to the form of communication in
which message is transmitted verbally.
NON VERBAL COMMUNICATION 3. The sending or receiving of wordless
messages.
SHANNON WEAVER MODEL 4. The type of communication that deals in
chats and conversations.
SENDER/ENCODER 5. He decides on the message to be sent, the best/most
effective way that it can be sent.
CHANNEL 6. He is responsible for the delivery of the chosen message form.
REPETITION 7. It is the role under non-verbal communication that can repeat
the message the person is making verbally.
SUBSTITUTION 8.It is the role under non-verbal communication that can
substitute for a verbal message.
NOISE 9.It is anything that gets in the way of the message being accurately
received, interpreted and responded to.
CREATION 10.The forming the communicative intent where the sender
generates an idea.

MODELS ARE THE METAPHORICAL, SIMPLIFIED AND SYSTEMATIC
REPRESENTATION OF COMMUNICATION PROCESS WHICH FORM GENERAL
PERSPECTIVE COMMUNICATION 2. Models are symbolic representations of structures
and objects or operations.
PAK. The message is send by the speaker to communicate with someone.
PAK 4. A communication may also be useful in explaining the working of a system.
PAK 5. The message you send with words, tone of voice, appearance, gestures, facial expression
and eye contact.
PAK 6. One model developed by Aristotle, one of the three pioneering Latin Philosophers.
PAK 7. Aristotle’s model of communication is the oldest communication model, dating back to
300BC. The model was designed to examine how to become a better and more convincing
communicator.
PAK 8. Interactive Model builds on circular models by explaining how we improve our
messages over time by using feedback. When we communicate with others, their feedback will
influence our next statement.
PAK 9. Communication models are systematic representations of the process which helps in
understanding how communication works can be done.
