■ ABOUT –
Set amidst the serene hills of Bhopal, Shaurya Smarak is a tribute to soldiers. It is developed
as a public park with imaginative and interesting architectural installations depicting sacrifice
of the soldiers. There is also an underground museum having dedicated galleries to martyrs.

SHAURYA STAMBH
Emerging from the Earth, this 62 ft. high column
depicts the life of a soldier, which he has accepted by
his free will. This column is built on a foundation of
internal strength and courage, which motivates a
feeling of patriotism in people.
There is a red sculpture kept in the park which when seen from main axis it appears as a 'Namaskar'
and when looked from another axis it appears as 'A Drop of Blood'.

LIFE – A Square courtyard at the entrance of the Memorial gives the sensation of a simple and pure environment.
It is a symbol of a soulful society.

THEATRE OF WAR – This circular courtyard is portrayed as Earth ravaged by the destruction of War. The pain and
dilemma that the humankind experiences because of War is very well depicted using uneven local stones. It
creates an atmosphere of sadness and melancholy.

DEATH – A small area has been made entirely black and dark to depict the lost hope and horror of Death.

VICTORY OVER DEATH – 2-3 M high staffs have been used to depict well oraganized army troops, which are a
symbol of peace and harmony.
MUSEUM
There is an underground museum having dedicated galleries and landmark in the memory of war heroes who had shown their gallantry in the
various wars with Pakistan and China. It also shows some historical heroes like Maharana Pratap and Tipu Sultan. The galleries portray the original
handmade art pieces and portrait of war heroes and display of different arms. Many displays shows the various ranks and badges for different
ranks of Army, Navy and Air force.
