Why is it so easy to be famous when you do

hilarious and nonsense things? How come those people

who do great can’t even get popular easily?
Pabebe was first created by social media users who's so fed up with annoying 'sobrang pa-cute' girls.
Pabebe is also synonymous to 'maarte', 'feeling maganda', 'sarap iuntog sa wall', 'sarap sikmuraan sa
mukha', ‘pwede ng itapon sa sapa’ and many more phrases that express annoyance to a person.
There is this girl named Mary Jaydeeryn Elias who started this viral video last November 2014. She
was bored and alone in a mall in Cavite that’s why she thought of making a video. Like other people
who crave for mamon, she imitated the way how poor and rich people eat. This video did not go viral
until the month of May 2015. It all started on Facebook wherein different facebook pages shared her
videos to wider audiences.
A video of two young girls has turned viral again after the first pabebe video. The two girls named
Michelle and Janet was called “Pabebe Girls”. These two girls got famous because of their video
saying; ‘hindi niyo kami mapipigilan’. They were also known as the ‘babaeng walang kilay’ and
‘babaeng nauutal’. They didn’t expect this video to become such a hit. That video was said to be a
response to the video of ‘Mamon Girl’. There are a lot of netizens who uploaded their own pabebe
video and even artists made their version of the said video.
Despite of the popularity that they gained, they said that if ever there would be a chance that they can
go back to the past, they wouldn’t do that anymore. Bashers were around them and also to their
parents saying that they do not have good conduct and proper moral.

Contrary to the ‘maarte’ persona the so-called ‘pabebe girls’ has been doing, one woman stood out
from the crowd as she achieved a 1.004 ‘almost-perfect score’ from UP Diliman. This woman is Ms.
Tiffany Uy, the holder of the highest GWA from UP Diliman since World War II, graduate of BS
Biology. Others has visualized a rather hands-on student, yet Tiffany Uy proved that a student could
excel even while enjoying her college life. She may not be active on social media, but it is not a reason
for she is very much on track with socialization. She even has a boyfriend!
Even so, Tiffany Uy shared some of her experiences with failing, that even she had trouble with
college and even thought of giving up. Yet, she didn’t, and now she’s on her way to medical school to
finally become a full-fledged doctor.

"Both have been viral in social media, whether it may be for the entertaining videos of the Pabebe
Girls or the outstanding performance in academics of Miss Tiffany Uy. However, we must respect
them. We must take the good things they have done, the goal of entertaining or excelling in our
studies, we must use these as motivation to strive harder into becoming a better person."
