My PED004 JOURNEY

Basketball is a very famous sport that even children are enjoying playing
it. As we grow older, we realized that basketball is not just a game, it has its
own rules and basics steps to begin with.
My PED004 basketball online class was full of challenge that makes me
more interested to play it. I learned a lot and encounter difficulties also. I
learned the different dribbling like how to dribble using the right and left hand,
the different shooting styles like lay-ups, the different passing like chest pass,
above the head pass, and the different hand signals of basketball game. I also
learned that Dr. James Naismith created the 13 original rules of basketball
and as time goes by, a professional basketball league was formed named as
National Basketball Association popularly known as NBA. It is said that NBA
started implementing rule changes to make playing basketball easier for
players.
Every performance task was so challenging for me because I have no
background knowledge about basketball, although I watched many basketball
leagues in our barangay but I don’t understand the rules like what is
happening and why is that happening. I consider the most difficult part in my
PED004 journey is performing the dribbling, which makes my body ached in
the morning after performing because I didn’t do stretching before taking the
video. It is so hard for me to do the below the knees and back dribbling
because I don’t know how to do it properly. It took me 2 days of practicing
just to look for my own technique to finish each 5 times consecutively. Along
with difficulties there are also realizations. I realized that when watching
basketball game, I should also pay attention on the game proper instead of
just looking at the surnames of the players. I should do dribbling or basketball
game itself if I have free time as an exercise and maybe someday I can use
what I’ve learned in some sports festival to come.
I know that all of us struggles a lot specially the mental and emotional
aspect of our life. We performed and finished this journey knowing the fact
that we are surrounded by trials brought by pandemic COVID-19, and as a
student with determination, we faced it and do our responsibilities. Kudos to
our instructor who gave his best in delivering basketball lectures and
performances to us and also to ourselves who endure all body aches,
headaches and etc. and did well in this semester. To God be all the glory and
keep safe at all times.
 NBA GAME 4 SUNS VS. CLIPPERS

The Western Conference is one of two conferences that make up the

National Basketball Association (NBA). It consists of 15 teams organized into
three divisions. Last June 27, the Game 4 of Phoenix Suns versus Los Angeles
Clippers was underway from Staples Center in Los Angeles with the score final
of 80 by 84 in favor of Phoenix Suns.
David Booker carried the Suns scoring 25 points while Deandre Ayton
scored 19 and had a monster game dragging down 22 rebounds, nine of which
were offensive. Chris Paul finished with 18 points and 7 assists.
Personal fouls were one of the majority calls by referees committed by
the players in the game, more particularly free throw penalty situations and
offensive fouls. Personal fouls happened when a contact committed against a
player with or without the ball is interpreted as unnecessary, wherein a player
hold, push, charge into, impede the progress of an opponent by extending a
hand, arm, leg or knee or by bending the body into a position that is not
normal. A contact that results also in the re-routing of an opponent is a foul
which must called immediately. It also says in the revised 13 rules of
basketball by National Basketball Association the rule number 8 wherein a
player is not allowed to touch the rim if the ball has been, or on its way to
basket.
Offensive fouls are assessed against an offensive player which is neither
punching or flagrant. Free throws are awarded when one technical foul is
assessed. Based on my observation, offensive fouls were committed 2 times,
one with technical foul and another on Booker after Clippers challenged the
call while free throw penalties were 12 times from the fouls.
Technical fouls were also committed 4 times. First was called against
George, after he got fouled by Booker, a little bit of push on booker give the
Suns a technical free throw, which is made by Booker. Second technical foul
was committed by Payne, which gives Clippers two good free throws. The third
technical foul was called for Beverly after drawing an offensive foul from Paul
wherein Paul hits the free throw. The fourth was for Booker for shoving George
after fouling him.
In the newly update game, it was confirmed that Phoenix Suns is
advancing to the finals with 4-2 wins against LA Clippers.
