INTRODUCTION

One of the leading causes of bringing harm to the health of the people, deteriorating the food
production of the planet and conducting damage to the agricultural aspect is; Air Pollution. Mackenzie
(2016) stated, air pollution refers to the deliverance of pollutants into the atmosphere that brings
negative impact to human health as well as the planet. On the other hand, it’s daunting effects both
brings unparallel safe living to humans in the environment and to an environment as a whole.

Air pollution threats the production of animals due to the harmful air pollutants that animals
can inhale along the process. Through this, it can lessen the food production in a local area which can
affect the food and energy intake of humans, bridging to acquire different diseases. Moreover, air
pollution brings a great effect to agricultural fields. As Philippines is one of the countries that is
abundant in agriculture, in relation to our local community, air pollution can cause agricultural crops to
be exposed in high concentration of air pollutants enabling to reduce growth and yield of the plants up
to the point that the crops will wither.

Additionally, too much exposure of harmful air pollutants can trigger a wide array of
unfavorable and adverse health outcomes. Air pollution increases the risk of respiratory infections, heart
diseases, and lung cancer. Moreover, short- and long-term exposure to air pollutants have been
associated with health impacts, thus, more severe impacts already affected the people who are already
sick. Deploying these different effects to food production, agriculture, and the health of the people
employs an immediate call to address and lessen its effects.

As a concerned environmentalist and humanitarian of Barangay San Roque, Ozamiz City, I have
identified that air pollution, in the long run, might affect the health of the people, health of the
community and the health of the environment. The emission of gasses coming from our local factories
are just some factors that adds up to the total percentage of pollution happening in our community.
Moreover, the factors that lead pollution to become evident in our community, also lead the way in
enabling climate change.

ACTION PLAN

The action plan that will be propose is entitled; “Air Pollution, The Action Plan Matrix”. This
action plan is made in order to address, limit, and lessen the effects of air pollution currently happening
in our community. Moreover, it also addresses the specific threats to human health, agriculture and
animal production in our local community that will affect the intake and well-being of the citizens. Also,
this action plan will be presented to the local government unit of Ozamiz City together with its feasible,
attainable and sustainable matrix that will provide sake-keeping to the environment.
PROPOSED ACTION PLAN MATRIX

Tanaw – Kalikasan is a local symposium that aims

to inform the people about the current
environmental problems happening in our
community. Moreover, the symposium will
specifically inform the following citizens of the
Tanaw – Kalikasan following topics:

 Air Pollution
 It effects to the people, to the
community, animal production, and
agriculture.
 How to address them evidently

A week after the implementation of the local

symposium, to address pollution and climate
change in our own local community, we must
plant mangroves in the boulevard since the place
Mangrove Planting is accessible to plant with mangroves. This aims
to lessen the pollution and climate change in the
city and as well as give beautification in the
scenery of the Boulevard. Along the way, it will
also help lessen its impacts to the sole production
of animals, agriculture and health of the people.

Green on the Go! Is a personal action plan matrix

both presented to the LGU and the Mayor of
Ozamiz City that empowers green movement,
aiming to use renewable fuel and clean energy
production. One of the most fundamental
Green on the Go! solution of air pollution is to drive away from
fossil fuels by replacing them with alternatives
such as solar panels. In relation to factories here
in the local community, they must be advised to
use solar panels for them to lessen the abundant
production of factory emissions in the
community.

Green shield is an agricultural movement that

aims to lessen the effects of air pollution to crops
and as well as animal production. This, is for the
local government to provide alternative energy
resources to farmers and empower the efficient
use of fertilizers. Moreover, the LGU must give
Green Shield support to local farmers and local citizens that
once in every 2 weeks, each household and farm
fields are to plant at least 2 trees in farm
boundaries and areas that can be accessible to
plant trees. Through this agricultural movement,
it will help reduce the effects of air pollution, give
shade to farm crops, reduce the inhalation of
harmful air pollutants to the production of
animals and lessens its effects to the people from
acquiring cardiovascular-like diseases.

Street – creek cleaning is an activity to be done

on a weekly manner that aims to clean our very
own street and creek as to remove trashes along
the scenery and to regain the natural smell as
Street and Creek Cleaning well as the color of the creek. In doing so, people
living nearby will not acquire certain diseases
along the way, the plants near the streets will not
be harmed and damaged by the trashes. As the
indistinct smell of trashes in the creaks can cause
diseases to humans, it is very evident for the
cetizens to address this problem and empower
local residents to join the movement.

Part of the local symposium is the introduction of

proper waste disposal among citizens living in the
community and they must perform this on their
daily lives. This measure must include 3 different
sacks, containers, or trash bins that has an
indication of Biodegradable, Non-Biodegradable,
Proper waste segregation and Glass. This is for garbage collectors to easily
segregate the trashes in the neighborhood and
for the people to become disciplined enough in
addressing the garbage problem in our
community. Moreover, garbage can also cause air
pollution because of the harmful smell it can
provide to the respiratory system of humans.

Paper bags empowerment is a proposed action

plan that aims to empower grocery malls, sari-
sari stores, hardware shops, etc. in the local
community to use paper bags daily to pack and
store the items of their buyers. This is to negate
Paper Bags Empowerment the usage of plastic bags in the mall, shops and in
the household of the customers. Moreover,
plastic burning nowadays is a trend in some
homes, that’s why, implementing shops and
malls to use paper bags to lessen and reduce the
burning of plastics in the local community, is very
evident.

Addressing the drastic effects humanity brought to empower air pollution to become evidently
present in our community is quintessential. Creating an action plan that will help address and lessen the
effects it brought to the community. Overall, this proposed action plan will help reduce the effect of air
pollution to animal production and as well agricultural yields and crops. As food is essential in the daily
lives of humans as it provides energy to the overall well-being of an individual, creating an action plan
that targets to lessen its effects to the overall wellness of humans is very essential to do. Moreover, this
action plan also proposes to ensure safety to the health of the citizens. As “Air pollution, The Action Plan
Matrix” provides attainable, feasible, and sustainable measures to lessen the impacts of air pollution to
animal production, agricultural yields, and health of the people, it also anchors to lessen the effects of
air pollution to the environment and to our planet earth as a whole.

“Doing things in our own little ways, can help empower change in our daily lives in a systematic
manner.” We can change now, for we can empower a better tomorrow.
