Webmail Access User Guide

Accessing Department Email from the Internet


Department email can be accessed via the web for approved staff. Email accounts can
be reached from any computer that has an Internet connection, following the instructions
below.

Note:
Please read the Webmail access guidelines to ensure you are aware of security
implications and your responsibilities in minimising security risks by following the best
practice suggestions outlined in the document.

The quality and speed of your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and the setup of your home
PC or mobile device will impact the speed and operations of your Webmail access.

Steps to access webmail from the Internet


1. Open Internet Explorer:
• DotAG users – go to the website address https://owa.dotag.wa.gov.au/
• DCS users – go to the site website address https://owa.correctiveservices.wa.gov.au/

2. You will be presented with the following login box ‘Outlook Web App’.

• Indicate whether you are accessing your email from a public or private
computer device.

• Enter your DotAG or DCS Windows username preceded by ‘justice\’, and
your current password as normal, then click on the ‘Log On’ button.

For example - John Smith would enter his username at this screen as
‘justice\smithj’.

3. You will now be presented with your email account to start doing business.

4. Make sure that you ‘Log Off’ when you are finished by clicking on the ‘Log Off’
link as shown above. If you are accessing your email from a publicly accessible
PC (eg internet café) please read the instructions below on how to ‘clean up’.

Cleaning up after accessing your webmail

The steps below are for Internet Explorer version 8. In an open Internet Explorer
browser window:

5. Click on ‘Tools’ in the top menu bar of Internet Explorer and select ‘Internet
Options’ from the dropdown menu.

6. In the ‘Internet Options’ popup window under the ‘General’ tab click on the
‘Delete…’ button.

7. On the ‘Delete Browsing History’ popup window select:

• ‘Temporary Internet files’


• ‘Cookies’
• ‘Download History’
• ‘Form data’
• ‘Passwords’
• ‘ActiveX Filtering and Tracking Protection data’

8. Select the ‘Delete’ button.

9. Close the Internet Explorer browser window.
