A systematic, subjective approach used to describe life
experiences and give them meaning. Sebuah pendekatan yang sistematis dan subyektif yang digunakan untuk menggambarkan dan memberi makna pada pengalaman kehidupan. The goal of qualitative research is not hypothesis testing.
Tujuan dari penelitian kualitatif bukanlah pengujian hipotesis. Frameworks are used in a different sense in qualitative research. Grounded theory: Explores how people define reality and

Historical research: Searches throughout history for

Ethnographic: Discovers meaningful truths that require the
understanding of the historical, linguistic, technological, and environmental factors that influence a culture’s lifeways. Menemukan kebenaran yang bermakna yang membutuhkan pemahaman faktor historis, linguistik, teknologi, dan lingkungan yang memengaruhi kehidupan budaya.
1. Classical ethnography – relied on the researcher immersing in a

Subjects are referred to as participants. Subjek disebut sebagai
peserta. May volunteer to be involved in study. Dapat berpartisipasi secara sukarela dalam studi. May be selected by researcher because of their particular knowledge, experience, or views related to study. May select individuals typical in relation to the phenomenon

* Saturation (informational redundancy) - sampling can be

Participants are treated as colleagues rather than subjects.

Questions tend to change as researcher gains insights from previous interviews and/or observations. May be written by participants on a particular topic at request of

Commonly used in historical and ethnographic research.
Biasanya digunakan dalam penelitian sejarah dan etnografi. Allows the researcher to identify trends or significant historical changes as reflected in a cultural product.
