The Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) focuses mainly on smart production based on
breakthrough achievements in information technology, biotechnology, and nanotechnology. Industry
4.0 is taking place strongly on a global scale, through technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT),
artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), interactive virtual reality (AR), network social, cloud,
mobile, big data analytics (SMAC)...

According to experts, this is also the process of transforming the entire real world into the digital world.
Here, cloud computing plays the role of an incentive platform, which has a great impact on the pace and
competitive advantage of enterprises (DN), organizations. Cloud computing can help businesses exploit
a huge amount of data, thereby increasing the ability to analyze - predict and improve the quality of
decisions made.

Along with that, cloud computing is also considered as the foundation for businesses or organizations to
apply new technologies such as robots, artificial intelligence, Internet of things, 3D printers... In
addition, cloud computing help businesses compete better on price, create a difference or new
experience values. Industry 4.0 is a major trend that has an impact on socio-economic development in
each country, region and globally, including Vietnam. For Vietnam, the term Agriculture 4.0, also known
as Smart Agriculture or Digital Agriculture, has gradually become familiar. In English, this phrase is called
Agriculture 4.0 or Digital agriculture.

Agriculture 4.0 is the application of modern achievements of Industry 4.0 such as the Internet,
nanotechnology, robotic technology, biotechnology, lighting technology, etc. to the process so that
labor is reduced. Limit loss and damage caused by natural disasters and pests to the lowest level, ensure
environmental safety, control and save costs in each stage or the entire process of production -
processing - consumption. consume.

This innovation mainly focuses on intelligent manufacturing process based on outstanding breakthrough
achievements. Different from Hi-tech Agriculture that focuses on changing production methods from
traditional to modern, Agriculture 4.0 is basically changing the way agriculture is managed.

Page 4
Up to this point, in Vietnam, it is not difficult to see farmers applying sensors to digitize elements such
as water, humidity, manure, light and convert it into devices. Electronic devices with Internet
connection such as computers and phones. So they are free to go anywhere and still know the farm
situation.

The feature of agriculture 4.0 is the digitization of production and business activities from farm to
processing, marketing and consumption strategies through a system of equipment and centralized data
management in one management application. single job.

Combining centralized operating and operating systems, automation and intelligence combining
physical technology, biological technology, and operating technology ensures the production and
business processes are controlled. continuously, achieving effective and sustainable value.

Produce agricultural products with excellent quality, high yield, even under unfavorable conditions

Creating better working conditions for workers, through a mobile connection system, even though
farmers are sitting at home, they can still know the progress of the plot of crops in the field and each
barn, each animal. to make the right decisions in a timely and effective manner.

Applying a form of high technology to agriculture allows you to create agricultural products with high
efficiency, good quality, safety and freshness. Consumers can access clean, quality products at
affordable prices.

In addition, hi-tech agriculture is also integrated with many application features such as mechanization
of stages in the production process until harvesting, preliminary processing and preservation of
agricultural products. Integrating information technology in the management process of agro-forestry-
fishery production such as growth monitoring, monitoring, regulation, and forecasting helps to
maximize quality.

Application of biotechnology in the process of selecting and breeding plants and animals suitable for
favorable weather conditions, high yield, good tolerance, and minimizing damage.

In addition to the above benefits, the application of high technology in agriculture also brings about
revenue achievements and economic growth, a high and stable source of income.

When applying high technology, many localities and businesses in the agricultural sector will face many
difficulties

Page 5
Investment capital: In order to apply for the best effect, it is necessary to have a huge investment capital
for technology, research time, and garden. According to preliminary calculations, it is estimated that it is
about 400 million VND to be able to start growing melons with a standard irrigation system or about 1.5
billion VND to invest in salad production. …In general, a large source of investment capital plus a
relatively long capital turnover time is also an "obstacle" that makes many businesses hesitant.

Legal mechanisms on land such as land ownership papers without clear steps are also a barrier for
businesses that do not dare to invest boldly. Therefore, the state needs to come up with measures,
supportive policies as well as laws to control to create conditions for them to be able to start doing
business with peace of mind.

The advantages of high-tech agriculture today have helped the world's agricultural industry make great
strides in development. If before, technology 4.0 could only be used in food processing, now it can be
easily seen in the fields, the technology has gradually become more familiar and popular in agriculture.

They help plants grow in the best conditions, produce even and beautiful fruits, resist harsh weather, as
well as increase productivity. High-tech agriculture is indeed a great invention of the world.

High-tech agriculture creates a large amount of products, ensures good quality, increases productivity
and is especially friendly to the environment. The application of high technology helps manufacturers
save maximum costs such as water, organic fertilizers, npk fertilizers, plant protection drugs and thus
always ensure safety and environmental friendliness. . Because of such outstanding advantages, it is
understandable that high-tech agriculture is gradually becoming a model for the agriculture of the 21st
century.

High-tech agriculture will help farmers be proactive in production planning, reduce dependence on
weather and climate, overcome harsh seasons, so that the scale of production is also expanded.
Effectively apply the greenhouse effect to recreate the most favorable environment for agricultural
production.

P7 Consider alternative research methodologies and lessons learnt in view of the outcomes

Agricultural model 4.0 applied to the field of planting helps to provide predictive data analysis to help
growers know when to plant, when to sell the best business products, etc. based on the digitization of
farming to help people get maximum profit.

Page 6
For example, at Cau Dat Da Lat Joint Stock Company (Cau Dat Farm), starting from products produced by
hydroponic method. Up to now, the Company owns a large-scale farm, a connected system to develop
clean vegetables with smart agricultural solutions, IoT applications in many windows of the cultivation and
consumption process. The monitoring and control system via the internet can automatically check the
humidity, water penetration, and re-analyze, helping farmers to monitor their operations remotely.

Application to livestock technology

Similar to farming techniques, agriculture 4.0 helps farmers come up with the best plan based on market
analysis data, weather analysis, and livestock analysis.

For example, the SmartChick software technology of Microsoft Vietnam Company is a product for smart
chicken raising, helping users to take care of chickens in accordance with biosecurity procedures. Users
without much knowledge and experience can still get the best quality chickens after raising them.
SmartChick works automatically or semi-automatically through IOT technology, helping users to take care
of chickens anytime and anywhere via the internet.

Page 7
Application in the problem of product consumption

In the past, agricultural product sales were based on the retail model. When entering agriculture 4.0,
product consumption will become much easier with the internet, online distribution channels, and e-
commerce platforms. Buyers can even order directly from the manufacturer, without having to go through
intermediaries like before. It is this change that will help farmers significantly increase profits and have
many new distribution channels.

Application in production planning problem

Page 8
As mentioned above, based on digitized information and artificial intelligence. The farmer does not even
need to understand the market very well and have rich experience, but still can easily get a production plan
with the least risk and bring the highest profit. Of course, to do this, the higher the digitization ratio, the
more accurate the results will be.

Agriculture 4.0 application helps to save costs

With artificial intelligence and data, the internet of things will help calculate the most accurate and
reasonable way so that all processes in agriculture are carried out according to the most cost-effective
process. On a computational basis, this cost savings can be very small and sometimes impracticable.
However, combining artificial intelligence with agriculture 3.0 will help reduce this loss of costs relatively
much.

A typical example is MimosaTEK Company, which specializes in providing precise irrigation solutions for
many large corporations investing in agriculture such as Vingroup, Thanh Cong… MimosaTEK's solution
allows the irrigation system to be operated remotely based on distribution. Analyze data about
environment, plant type and plant growth stage and users can monitor these parameters in real time.
Applying MimosaTEK's "precise irrigation technology" has helped customers save 30-50% of irrigation
water, reduce energy consumption, and free up all the labor of operating manual irrigation systems. At the
same time, still ensure the appropriate amount of irrigation water for the growth of plants.

Page 9
Applying 4.0 technology to agriculture with artificial intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the pursuit of many technology startups. With the application of AI in
agriculture, users will not need to process raw data themselves, but can completely thanks to AI that
digitizes agriculture automatically.

For example, in the raw material area of Lam Son Sugar Company, Thanh Hoa (Lasuco), there are about
30,000 sugarcane farmers growing on an area of about 32,000 hectares (75% of the area is hilly), of which,
nearly 60% are ethnic minorities, so accessing new technology is not easy. To solve the problem of
harvesting and transporting with 1,000 vehicles, Minerva Company has attached a journey monitoring
device and put it on the common system. Thanks to that, Lasuco knows the operation of each vehicle, this
automatic coordination artificial intelligence system replaces 40 statistical accountants. Moreover, it is also
forecasted to avoid unfavorable weather, apply smart farming, increase productivity from 45 tons/ha to 70
tons/ha, especially 120-130 tons/ha; contribute to increased profits for farmers.
