uses of uniform and non-uniform mixtures; S6MT-1a-c-1
Quarter: _1 Week: ___1__ Day: ___4___

I. Objectives:
At the end of 50 minutes, 100% of the learners are expected to:
1. Describe liquid and liquid mixtures of substances

II. Content:
Subject Matter: Mixtures and Characteristics
Integration:
ESP: Appreciating things in nature
Strategies: Cooperative Learning

III- Learning Tasks

Materials and Assessment Tool
A. Elicit (access prior knowledge) 3 minutes
To elicit prior knowledge, the teacher will ask the Laptop, projector and different
pupils: solid mixtures
1. Describe solid mixtures? What are their
characteristics?
B. Engage (Get the students’ minds focused on the
topic) 5 minutes
Introduced the lesson by asking: Kalamansi
Have you ever made a drink? A Kalamansi juice? water
C. Explore 15 minutes
Today we will describe mixtures of substances. Water, alcohol. Lemon juice
 liquid and liquid
1. Group into the pupil into two
2. Recall standards in conducting an
activity
3. Distribute activity cards to each
group and let them do the activity.
4. Supervise the pupils’ work during
the conduct of activity.

Activity: (For all Group)

Title: Mix. Mix, Mix

Materials: water, soy sauce,
alcohol, lemon juice, glass,
Procedure:

Solution A (group 1)
1. Mix water, lemon Juice in a
glass
2. Describe its appearance.

Solution B (group 2)
1. Mix the alcohol and water
2. Describe its appearance

Solution C (group 3)
1. Mix the Vinegar and water
2. Describe its appearance

Rubrics:
3 points if all the procedures are met
2 points if 1 of the procedure are not met
1 point if 2 of the procedure are not met

D. Explain 10 minutes

1. Each group will present their output.

2. Analysis and discussion of the
activity results and answer of the
pupils.
3. Describe the liquid mixtures.

A liquid substance can also be added to another liquid

and these two substances can be mixed thoroughly.
Examples of these are alcohol and water, liquid bleach
and water, vinegar and soy sauce, concentrated fruit
juice in water, or liquid milk and water.
E. Elaboration 7 minutes
1. Further discussion on describing the
appearance of liquid mixtures
substances.
2. Give more examples of liquid
mixtures.
Oil and water
Paint and thinner

3. Refer to science books for more

16
explanations and additional
information.

IV. Evaluation 15 minutes

Explain by describing liquid and liquid mixtures of Mixture of (1) kalamansi juice
substances and (2) oil and water

1. kalamansi juice Ballpen

2. oil and water paper

V. Extend

Assigned the pupils by group to bring materials for the

next activity. See the DLP for the next day.
