Target

A lot of people don’t want to be responsible for the choices they make,
and they often don’t want to admit that their decisions have real life
consequences.  Try as you might, you can’t escape the consequences of your
decisions, whether good or bad.

In the previous module you have learned that freedom is a choice to

make. In this module you will learn the consequences of your choices. With
each choice comes a consequence. ... Through a responsible use of our
freedom to choose our path in life and by making the right choices (instead of
sometimes the easy or convenient choice), we will help ourselves to succeed.
Make a bad choice, you'll get a negative consequence.

Take a depth breath and you will be exposed in the different activities that
will make you realize that choices have consequence. All you have to do is to
accomplish all activities.

After going through this module, you are expected to:

1. Realize that choices have consequences.
2. Understand that some things are given up while others are obtained in
making choices.

Are you ready? Let us begin!

Read and Understand the text.

Rand (1996) believes that thinking is volitional. Meaning a person

has the freedom to think or not. Though human beings have
rights, there should also be responsibility. Filipinos holistic and
interior dimensions stress a being – with – others and sensitivity
to the needs of the others that inhibit one’s personal and
individual fulfilment. To be a free individual is to be responsible
not only for one’s self but also for all. The Filipino looks at himself
as one who feels, wills, thinks, acts as a total whole – as a
“person,” conscious of his human dignity and sensitive to the
violation of these two.

Every choice follows a different action and it will have its own
consequent effect which will be distinctly different. If you
understand butterfly effect or chaos theory, you will come to know
that even a very small action that seems to be minor will result in
a great effect. Every choice does some activity that is different
from the other choices, and that's why it gets different
consequences. Each and every activity we do is our own choice,
with consequences and results with the beginning of our next
different activity, which is also our own choice. This is infinitely a
continuous process.

People make choices all they time. They can choose to be positive
or negative, to create or complain, to take responsibility or avoid
responsibility. Each choice does, of course, have consequences,
with both pluses and minuses.People also choose how they use
their feelings. They can choose their attitudes, actions and what
they want to achieve. The things they do as a result can affect
both them and other people.

Feelings are the material of life. A person can feel happy or sad,
up or down, optimistic or angry. Whatever feeling they have, they
can ask: How do I want to use this feeling? How can I use it to
encourage other people? How can I do something that will help to
Explore
build a better world?’

song

Bawal Na Gamot
Willy Garte

Assessment 1 Direction: Read the life story of Nick Vujivic. Create a new
principle in life based on the learning you gained from the lesson.

Imagine getting through your busy day without hands or legs.

Picture your life without the ability to walk, care for your basic
needs, or even embrace those you love. Meet Nicholas Vujicic
(pronounced VOO-yee-cheech). Without any medical explanation
or warning, Nick was born in 1982 in Melbourne, Australia,
without arms and legs. Three sonograms failed to reveal
complications. And yet, the Vujicic family was destined to cope
with both the challenge and blessing of raising a son who
refused to allow his physical condition to limit his lifestyle.

The early days were difficult. Throughout his childhood, Nick

not only dealt with the typical challenges of school and
adolescence, but he also struggled with depression and
loneliness. Nick constantly wondered why he was different than
all the other kids. He questioned the purpose of life, or if he even
had a purpose.

According to Nick, the victory over his struggles, as well as his

strength and passion for life today, can be credited to his faith
in God. His family, friends and the many people he has
encountered along the journey have inspired him to carry on, as
well.

Since his first speaking engagement at age 19, Nick has

traveled around the world, sharing his story with millions,
sometimes in stadiums filled to capacity, speaking to a range of
diverse groups such as students, teachers, young people,
business professionals and church congregations of all sizes.
Today this dynamic young evangelist has accomplished more
than most people achieve in a lifetime. He’s an author,
musician, actor, and his hobbies include fishing, painting and
swimming. In 2007, Nick made the long journey from Australia
to southern California. Nick established Life Without Limbs
ministry in 2005. He is currently serving as President and CEO.
