“School-Based National Leadership Training with Emphasis on
Integrity Development”
(October 13, 2017)
Living with integrity means: Not settling for less than what you know you deserve. Asking for what you want
and need from others. Speaking your truth, even though it might create conflict or tension. Behaving in ways that
are in harmony with your personal values. Making choices based on what you believe, and not what others believe.

Last October 13,2017 at exactly 7:30 a.m., over 126 delegates from Grade 4 to Grade 12 students participate
the School Based National Leadership Training with Emphasis on Integrity Development. The event is spearheaded
by CIC & SSG Adviser, Mr. Jeffrey Andrada; and with the help of facilitators who joined the National Leadership
Training last September 29-October 1, 2017 at Urdaneta City National High School.

The seminar focused on how to enrich the knowledge of every student about integrity. It is to inform
everyone the consequences of not being honest and fair. And also it was occurred to give the students a quality time
to meet everyone and enjoy at the same time.

The very able speaker Dr. Rodolfo C. Santianez a master teacher of the said school discussed the different
characteristics of a good leader while Mr. Dominador Echalas who emphasized the importance of Integrity. He also
tackled the difference between a boss and a leader.

Teamwork, Sincerity, Humility, Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Integrity, Volunteerism, Strategic
Mindset, and Trust. Those are the values they learned from the Team Building. The young leaders are challenged by
the 6 obstacles.

At the end of the day the seminar went well as planned..

Journalist Talks about Plagiarism

RA 10175, The Philippines Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012,

an act for those who steal the ideas or copy the words of other

people as their own.

Catablan Integrated School conducted the anti-plagiarism

program with the theme “School-based workshop for Anti-

Plagiarism”. This event was utilized for the integrity policy and

development for the 56 campus journalists and other students from

junior to senior high school, last October 10, 2017.

The objectives of the program are; to help the journalists to

improve their skills in writing, to be responsible in their task as a

journalist and student, to learn how to present presentation, the

best way to avoid plagiarism, and learn to acknowledge the cite or

source.

The school paper adviser Ma’am Lourdes R. Pabito (Head

Teacher III) and Sir Dominador E. Echalas (Teacher I) are the ones

who lead the said event and Ma’am Marita L. Aniciete (Principal IV)

gave an inspirational message for the aspiring writers/journalists.

The speakers of the event tackled the following; 3 things to

avoid plagiarism, penalties in plagiarism, 3 types of plagiarism that

occur in journalism and tips on how to improve their writing skills.

In the middle of discussion, students gave their insights and

experiences regarding plagiarism. After that, they divide the

students for a group activity. This activity improved their social

skills, fair and just.

Lastly, each group was task to make an article about the

importance of integrity as a journalist and this will serve as the

highlight of the program.

The program was ended in evaluation and assessment of the

students regarding on what they have learned about plagiarism and

the importance of integrity in their daily lives.

Fairness. Honesty. Just. These are the words that integrity

has. These words should also the characteristics of being a

journalist. A journalist that speak with integrity, express truth in

the society and respect morality.

GUIDELINES FOR ACADEMIC CHEATING

Cheating. Students need to have a knowledge regarding the Guidelines for

Academic Cheating in order for them to set values that promote personal

integrity and good practice in teaching, learning and assessment and also to

facilitate a fair and consistent approach to dealing with unproven instances of

academic dishonesty.

The followings are some Guidelines for Academic Cheating:

1. You need to be honest all the time, particularly when you presenting

your work or work of others.

2. Learn to acknowledge the author on the particular data or information

you gathered.

3. Influence other fellow students to be honest, especially for those

students who always copying other written work.

4. You need to follow all the rules inside the classroom. For example, some

instances that you are taking examination. Using Gadgets or other notes

materials are prohibited.

5. Helping someone is prohibited, such as allowing your own work to be

copied.

6. You need to encourage other student to develop their skills by making

their own written works without copying other works.

7. You need to promote ethical research skills regarding integrity.

8. You need to be fair and just. Particularly when you are conducting

research.

9. You can collaborate with your classmates regarding on your assignment,

but you must write up your own solution to your assignment.

10. When there’s a group activity you should list the names who

participated and acknowledge their efforts regarding on that matter.

11. Don’t copying answers on test.

12. Give credit to what is due. When you copy quotation or statement

site the author.

13. When you’re conducting research, your paper should be crafted

and written on your own.

14. You need to report to your teacher if your classmates where doing

some dishonesty or violating the rules inside the classroom, even though

it was your friend or relatives.

15. Always remember that Honesty is the best policy.

2. Per group they must form a circle and wear a blindfold.

every individual must trust their
teammates or every person that
they interact. And one must
enhance being truthful when
they commit a mistake.

Guidelines :

1. Another group of people forming a circle, a reversed circle. A coin

2. If the music starts, the coin must be distributed to each person. If

will guess where the coin is.


3. The clairvoyant will guess the location of the coin.
4. The clairvoyant will ask “Do you have the coin? “,If the guessed
person will answer NO, he/she will now defend his/her answer.
5. And the clairvoyant will now look at the hands of the guessed
person. If the coin is in her/him ,then he/she will be disqualified.

 Remember: Those who have Integrity wins.

Rules:
1. Close your eyes.

2. Stop talking until the facilitator ordered you to speak.

3. Be Courageous.

4. Stick to the words that you have said.

5. Be smart on guessing.

Lesson Learned :
Think before you obey. And be Honest whether they commanded
you to do the bad thing. Always choose to do the Right thing.

Fill me up, Bottle Cup

Guidelines :

1. Each group must have 1 piece of transparent cup and 5 bottle


cups.
2. Form a Straight line
3. You must fill the plastic cup with water using the bottle cups
4. You will scoop water in the pail individually using the bottle
cups of Coke and gently walk then pour the water in the plastic
cups
5. You must count the number of the plastic cups that is
equivalent of one plastic cups

Rules :
1. Once the water has fallen they will restart the game. And also
if they fell the bottle cups.
2. You can only use your one hand to hold the bottle cup and
your other hand will be on your back.
3. The water on the cup must overflow until the game is over.

Reminder:
Be careful on handling a relationship. It is like the bottle cups
that is containing a lot of water. Gently handle it or else the water will
be pour out. It is when you trusted someone and just wasted it. Be
trustworthy enough.

Lesson Learned:
The purpose of the game is to make the players become honest
and be fair always as it tested on how honest an individual is.

This activity is to test the patience, fairness and honesty of the


students on pouring a water using a bottle cap inside the plastic cup.
