TIME STUDY EXERCISES

1. If Charlene Brewster has times of 8.4, 8.6, 8.3, 8.5, 8.7, 8.5 and her
performance rating is 110%, what is the normal time for this
operation? Is it slower or faster than normal?

It is slower than normal

2. In reference to the previous problem.
a) If the slack factor is 15%, what is the standard time for this operation?

b) If the slack factor is 18% and the performance rating is now 90%, what
is the standard time for this operation?
Use the following formulas:

Normal time = Averange time observed * Performance Rating %

Note: For the solution of 2, you must obtain 3 results of average observed
times, then add them and multiply them by the performance rating factor
in decimal percentage, and then get the standard time of the task. It is
also necessary to eliminate the measured times that are outside the
average range (outside the normal measured) in each work item.
