FREEDOM AND RESPONSIBILTY

REFLECTION PAPER

I believe in the saying that “With freedom comes great responsibility”.

Unfortunately, some of us don’t seem to be responsible. We as a human have been
given free will from God. Although if me make choices based on our own free will, we
must be willing to take the responsibility for the effects that our decisions have on
ourselves, on the people around us, and on society itself. 

To me freedom is the right to be me. It is the right to explore and discover who
and what I truly am. It is the right to be and create what works best and makes me
happiest in my oneness. However, I am not alone. There are still people that surrounds
me that I need to consider. I must accept that there is a responsibility in the account of
enjoying whatever I want.

Some people believe that with freedom they can do whatever they want and
whenever they want. But there is a false belief because you will realize that freedom
stops as soon as you hurt other people. For instance, you are free to play music and
dance with it, but as soon as you start to annoy people with it, you must stop what you
are doing.

It is true that responsibility is the price of freedom. We can freely use electricity
for playing games on computer or stream in social media, but after that you have the
responsibility to pay your bills. Currently, we are experiencing the Covid 19 pandemic.
We are given by the government the consent to go out. We are now free to shop in
malls, eat at restaurants and celebrate events with our love ones. However, we are
liable and accountable to take responsibility to ourselves if we unfortunately get the
disease. We are free to express ourselves in social media but we must be responsible
on whatever we are posting because a lot of people can use that against you. It is your
reputation that counts.

Each of us has own abilities and skills that we can freely express. In every power
and strength that we have, we must always keep in mind that it comes with
responsibility. In every action that we do, we must hold accountable ourselves. Enjoying
our freedom does not mean that we disregard the rights of others and live the way we
feel right. We have to consider the rights and the feelings of people around us when
living our freedom.
