Base Fish Scales - Salt and pepper sandstone

Beaverhill Lake - Limestone

Belloy - Sandstone, dolomitized limestone


and chert. Conglomerates may
be present.

Belly River - Sandstone, slitstone, shaly


coal seams. Bentonite may be
present.

Blackstone - Shales

Blairmore - Sandstone with a thin limestone


bed.

Blueridge - Dolomite

Bluesky - Sandstone with shale interbeds

Boundary lake - Crystalline dolomite.

Bow Island - Sandstone with bentonitic matrix

Buick Creek - Fine to medium-grained quartz


sand with some coarse grains.
Bullhead - Sandstone, shale, conglomerate
and coal.

Cadomin - Massive conglomerate with sandy


matrix

Cadotte - Salt and pepper sandstone with


shale interbeds.

Calmar - Dolomitic siltstone with


anhydrite- filled vugs.
Shale may be present.

Camrose - Crystalline dolomite

Cardium - Sandstone members separated by


shale.

Cecil - Sandstone

Charlie Lake - Massive anhydrite, siltstones,


dolomites and salt beds.

Chinchaga - Anhydrite with minor amounts


of salt dolomite

Chinook - Sandstone and sandy shale

Christina - Limestone and shale

Colorado - Mainly shale. Sandstones,


conglomerate, bentonite and
thin limestone bands are present.

Cooking Lake - Limestone and shale

Crossfield - Dolomite

Cummings Sand - Black shale, salt and pepper


sandstone and a coal seam near
the base.

Dalhousie - Massive conglomerate with


quartz sand matrix

Debolt - Upper is anhydritic dolostones


with anhydrite interbeds.
Lower is massive limestone.

Derital - Sandstone

Doe Creek - Sandstone


Doig - Sandstone and shale

Dunvegan - Sandstone, shale, limestone


and coal are present.

Duvernay - Bituminous shales, shale, limestone

Elk Point - Anhydritic dolomite and


dolomitic shales. Evaporites

Elkton - Crystalline dolomite and

Ellerslie - Sand and grey sandy shales

Grand Rapids - Interbedded greywackes, siltstones


shales with several thin coal beds.

Granite Wash - Sandstone and shale

Grosmont - Dolomite with vuggy porosity

Halfway - Dolomitic sandstones with minor


dolomite and siltstone.

Harmon - Dark gray shale with bentonitic


interbeds, siltstone and
sandstone

Home Sandstone - Sandstone interbedded with shale

Ireton - Shale with thin bands of limestone

Jean Marie - Dolomite, siltstone, anhydrite,


limestone and shale

Joli Fou - Shale with minor lenses of sandstone

Jumping Pound - Sandstone interbedded with shale

Kaskapau - Grey shale and sandstone near the


base.

Keg River - Dolomite and limestone

Kiskatinaw - Quartzose sandstones, interbedded


with waxy shales, limestones beds
are common.

Knopcik - Sandstone

Kootenay - Shale, siltstones and conglomerate.


Coal seams are present.

Kotcho - Dolomitic limestone and dolomite

Lea Park - Shale

Leduc - Vuggy limestone or dolomite.


Reefal structure.

Lloydminister - Shale and some sand lenses.

Lower Cretaceous - Interbedded sand, shale and


coal seams

Luscar - Sandstone, shale, ironstone,


thick coal seams

Mannville - Interbedded sand, shale and


coal seams

McDougall Segur Sand - Sands interbedded with shales.


May be cerbonaceous to coally
at base. Conglomerates are
present.

McMurray - Quartz sandstone

Medicine Hat - Sand and speckled shale

Milk River - Upper is sandstones with


interbeds of clays and shales.
Lower is massive sandstone and
sandy shale.

Mississippian - Crystalline dolomite and


limestone, vuggy

Moberly - Limestone with a few shale


interbeds.

Montney - Shale

Mountain Park - Sandstone interbedded with shale.


Conglomerate is present.

Mount Head - Upper portion consists of black


limestone interbedded with
calcareous shale. Lower portion
consists of limestone, dolomite and
dolomitic limestone.

Muskaw - Shale and limestone

Muskeg - Interbedded dolomite, anhydrite


and salt

Nikanassin - Dark sandstone interbedded with


shale. Thin coal seams may be present.

Nisku - Anhydritic dolomite with secondary


andhydrite and shale

Nordegg - Black limestone and black shale

Notikewan - Clayey sandstone with interbeds


of shale

Ostracod - Dark shale with lenses of limestone,


sandstone and siltstone

Otter Park - Limestone

Paddy - Light sandstone, shale and some coal


beds

Peace River - Thin bedded shales and sandstones.


Occasional coal seams.

Pekisko - Massive limestone in the lower


part and crystalline in the upper.

Pelican - Grey to white sand

Poker Chip Shale - Shales with thin limestone beds


Prairie Evaporite - Lower consists of anhydrite and
dolomite interbedded with shale
and thin beds of halite, upper is
mainly halite

Rainbow Member - Dolokite and limestone

Rierdon - Limestones, calcareous shales


and sandy limestones

Rock Creek - Sandstones and shale

Rundle - Grey to black limestone, may


contain chert

Sawtooth - Sandstone, conglomerate, shaly sand


and sandy shale

Scatter - Sandstone, shale, black shale

Second White Specks - Speckled shale

Shaftesbury - Blue-grey shale

Shunda - Interbedded limestone, dolomite,


siltstone and shale. Anhydrite
may be present.

Slave Point - Dark limestone, may be slightly


bituminous

Sparky Sand - Quartz sand

Spirit River - Sandstone and shale

Spray River - Dolomitic shales, limestones


and dolomites

Stettler - Predominately evaporites


( anhydrite and salt ) with
interbeds of secondary dolomite

Stoddart - Lower is shales, siltstones,


sandstones, limestones, dolomites
and anhydrite. Upper is
limestones, dolomites and beds
of sandstones and siltstone.

Sulphur Mountain - Dolomitc limestone and


dolomitic shale

Sulphur Point - Dolomite, limestone


Sunburst - Shale, sandstone, mudstone

Swan Hills - Limestone

Taber - Sandstone with a clayey matrix,


shale may be present

Toad - Shale, hard siltstone, limestone

Turner Valley - Dolomite and limestone

Viking - Salt and pepper sandstone with


intervening beds of shale

Wabamun - Dolomitic limestone and dolomite.


Appreciable anhydrite occurs near
the base

Wabiskaw - Massive sandstone

Wapiabi - Shales

Wapit. (Edmonton) - Sandstone, bontonite, sahales


thin coal possible

Watt Mountain - Shale, siltstone, sandstone, arkose,


limestone, breccia, anhydrite and
dolomite

Wilrich - Dark grey shale with thin interbeds


of sand and silt

Winnepegosis - Vuggy grey dolomite

Winterburn - Dolomite, siltstone, anhydrite,


limestone and shale

Woodbend - Limestone and dolomite
