STIMULANT DRUGS 2

INTRODUCTION

Stimulant drugs is a substance used as a medication according to the Food, Drug, and Cosmic Act.

It recognized in an official pharmacopeia or formulary. It is a substance intended for use in the

diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or to prevent disease. Stimulant drugs used by people with

ADHD and people fighting depression and anxiety. These can change the lives of people whereas they

cannot control their actions. Some people are stressed and depressed, and they usually take drugs to

relieve the pain they had. Stimulant drugs are the most significant drugs that people take like cocaine

and amphetamine. Stimulant medications are the critical element in the treatment of ADHD which

stimulants act to reduce hyperactivity.

Stimulant drugs are a cause of substances that enlarge certain types of cell signaling and expand

chromatic physiologic processes throughout the brain and body; thus, stimulant effects can range from

short-term energy boost to long-term brain changes and organ system injury. It is clinical and lasting

passiveness that a user wants the drug again. It is something that causes more control and activity. But

other stimulant drugs doses lessens the ability to focus on something. Stimulant medications are used

to cure for many conditions such as an ADHD person to increase energy and to elevate mood.

Stimulant drugs should uses with precaution. Different types of stimulants include Substances, such as

caffeine, cocaine, nicotine, methamphetamine.

STIMULANT DRUGS 3

Effects of abusing Stimulant Drugs. Before people were addicted to stimulants they were curious "

I wondered what could make that happen…" That is what they thought before were using stimulants,

among other drugs…" It was the most important thing in my life." As their troubles grew at home or

anywhere, they felt the urge to use stimulants more. Stimulants like cocaine break in the flow of

dopamine, causing it to build up in the brain, putting the "reward system" into overdrive. Brain in

Overdrive, many people start abusing stimulants because the drugs give them an artificial feeling of

happiness. Stimulant abuse can also result in death, like when cocaine compresses the blood vessels,

power the heart to catalyze harder to keep blood flowing through the body. The center can work so

hard that it temporarily loses its natural rhythm. People who insert stimulants run a high risk of blood-

borne diseases; certain stimulants can cause gangrene, it is a condition in which the tissue in a

person's bowels dies due to a lack of blood. When snorting stimulants damages the skin on the inside

of the nose, and it can result in frequent nosebleeds and loss of the sense of smell and swallowing of

blood.

Reduced Sexual Functioning. Stimulants reduced sexual functioning when it abused, taking

stimulants before sexual intercourse can make once blood flow increase and overuse of reproductive

organs. Drug use has linked with a variety of HIV related sexual risk practices, including having

multiple sex partners (Roberts et al., 2003; Wingood & DiClemente, 1998; ZuIe & Desmond, 1999).

New users of cocaine, with "new user" defined as having used the drug in question for the first time

within the past five years. However, Kuebler, Hausser, and Gerbassoni (2000) found that compared to

more users, new drug users reported less injection use, less frequent drug use, fewer health problems,

fewer social difficulties, and less involvement in HIV risk behaviors. People are engaged in the
STIMULANT DRUGS 4

following response such as having cohabitation while high and trading drugs with it. It may be that it

is not merely drug use that heightens the overall frequency of sexual risk-taking, but the extent to

which people experience drug addiction or problems from their drug abuse affects their overall

behavioral risk. This feature the importance of early intervention for drug users, so their drug it would

curtail, if not eliminated, before it begins to have detrimental effects on their lives (DeWit, Offord, &

Wong, 1997; Vines & Mandell, 1999; Worner & Delgado, 1995).

Extreme weight loss. According to physicians, it prescribes drugs to anyone they wish, but the

audience we're approaching is the chronically obese person. The drug will be an inject-able, not a pill,

so it won't be as accessible as something that can swallow. It certainly won't find much favor with

individuals who don't like needles. In more than two decades, drugs recommended for approval by the

U.S. Food and Drug Administration. It has been available for sale in 65 countries for the past ten

years, but experts were concerned about possible side effects of taking the drug over an extended

period. The drug, available only by prescription, works by altering the brain chemical serotonin to

make people perceive full even though they have eaten less.

Chronic Exhaustion. Chronic fatigue syndrome is a complicated illness of extreme fatigue that is

not relieved by rest. Stimulants were used to treat everything from asthma to obesity to hyperactivity

to neurological disorders, but abuse problems have restricted their use to condition such a disease.

Stimulants have used it to elevate mood, reduce feelings of fatigue and increase alertness,

concentration, and motivation. Using too many stimulants can damage ones internal organs. Illegal

drug use can cause chronic addiction, ruin personal and social lives, destroy work relationships, foster

criminal behavior, and result in chronic medical, mental health problems and death. Stimulants such as
STIMULANT DRUGS 5

cocaine cause chronic effects that these drugs have on various body systems.

There are different kinds of Stimulant drugs. Stimulants could cause stroke, heart attack, and death

if it abused. It enhances the chemicals in the brain. But if it harmed it will change one’s mind, and it

cannot control of one’s action. Its effect is to weaken the immune system of one’s body and changes

the feeling of someone who abused it. The abuse of stimulant drugs in more massive doses can cause

damage to the user. Scientists said that “Addictive substances hijack the brain’s reward system,

weakening our resolve to make wise choices when painful consequences are sure to result. Cocaine

and other stimulants cause this change directly.” Miller, M.G. (2005, p.40)

Focalin. It is a stimulant to the central nervous system. And it affects the chemicals in one’s brain

that contribute to hyperactivity. According to the FDA, “Focalin is a controlled substance because it

can be abused or lead to dependence. It had not studied in children under the age of 6.” When if it

abused, it could change the feeling of one’s mind. Focalin has a high capability for abuse and

addiction, especially among people who do not have ADHD.

Dexedrine. It is a stimulant and used to treat attention deficit problems with hyperactivity.

Dexedrine is used to treat ADHD people and Narcolepsy. Although the substances abused, can enrich

the symptoms of ADHD and help narcolepsy. Dexedrine abuse can be very harmful to the user.

Determined by the Drug Enforcement Administration “In fact, its potential for harm indicated by the

drug’s status as the controlled substance which means that while the drug has therapeutic benefits, it

carries the risk of abuse.” If someone may abuse Dexedrine, they can complete their work more

quickly and efficiently without needing to stop for sleep.

STIMULANT DRUGS 6

Ritalin. Ritalin is a nervous system stimulant. It manifests chemicals in the brain and nerves that

give to hyperactivity and impulse control. It is used to treat attention deficit disorder, ADHD, and

narcolepsy. Nervousness and insomnia are the adverse reactions. When stimulants were taken, Ritalin

should not be addictive. Oral Ritalin dosages are designed to discharge dopamine at a slower rate,

reducing the effect on the brain. And causes the feeling of being high and makes one’s mind addictive.

Ritalin influences a much higher amount of dopamine to reach receptors in the brain for those who

don’t have ADHD and after abuse, taking Ritalin becomes a learned behavior and boost on the

compulsion to make Ritalin regardless of consequences.

Advantages of Stimulant Drugs. If you plan on taking stimulant medications for ADHD,

understand that the medications affect each person differently, and may take some time to find the

right formula and dose that works for you. Stimulant medications reduce the symptoms of ADHD,

including difficulty paying attention and overactivity. These medicines are often the most effective

treatment at lowering ADHD symptoms. Stimulants provide them with a supply of the chemical in

your brain that allows you to pay attention. When stimulants alter our brain functioning, we can be

organized, follow others' instructions, and have more positive interactions with others. These

medications catalyze directly on changing the way the brain works, allowing them to be more

productive at work and school. Be aware that there are significant side effects from these medicines,

so do not request them without a thorough discussion with doctors. Stimulants can increase blood

pressure, heart rate, and body temperature and decrease sleep and appetite.
STIMULANT DRUGS 7

It Cools down people with ADHD. When put on doses and routes other than those prescribed,

stimulants can enlarge brain dopamine in a quick and highly amplified manner, disrupting healthy

communication between brain cells and producing euphoria and, as a result, increasing the risk of

addiction. The treatment of ADHD with stimulants, often in coordination with psychotherapy, support

to improve ADHD symptoms along of the patient’s self-esteem, thinking ability, and social

community and family interactions. All stimulants work by increasing dopamine levels in the brain; it

is a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure, movement, and attention. Therapeutic effect of

stimulants is by slow and steady increases of dopamine, which is similar to the way dopamine is a

naturally produced in the brain. Stimulants have a calming and “focusing” effect on individuals with

ADHD. They are custom to patients for daily use and come in the form of tablets or capsules of

varying dosages. Stimulants can pump up blood pressure, heart rate, and body temperature and

decrease sleep and appetite.

Lessens Hypertension. For many people with ADHD, stimulant medications boost concentration

and obsession while decreasing hyperactive and impulsive behaviors. Stimulants are the typical type

of drug prescribed for attention deficit disorder. The stimulant class of drugs includes widely used

drugs such as Ritalin, Adderall, and Dexedrine. Stimulants for ADHD come in both short-acting

dosages. The long-acting versions of ADHD medication are often preferred since people with ADHD

often have trouble remembering to take their pills. Long-acting or extended-release stimulants 12

hours, and are usually made just once a day. Stimulants for Short-acting stimulants peak after several

hours and can make 2-3 times a day. Stimulant cools down people with ADHD which helps them to

relax and slow down blood flow. It helps people with ADHD to control themselves and to get enough

rest.
STIMULANT DRUGS 8

Controls and cools ones’ mind. Stimulants may be the only treatment they use or try them along

with behavior therapy. These drugs help ADHD symptoms in about 70% of adults. They tend to chop

on hyperactivity, interrupting and fidgeting. They can help the person finish jobs and improve their

relationships with others. Stimulant drugs are the treatment most used for ADHD. They can help them

manage symptoms; Short attention span, Impulsive behavior, and Hyperactivity. The short forms

taken as two or three times a day, and the long ways just once a day. The benefit of small types is that

they have more control over when they have medication in their system. The downside is they have to

remember to take them. As long as the drug had made, people seek for the better attention span and

behavior. Even though there are debates about social talents or performance at school gets better than

that there are many people who benefit from them.

Conclusion

For many people, stimulant drugs increases the activity of the body and boost the chemicals in the

brain. It also reduces hyperactivity of the ADHD people. They are suggested by their doctor’s not to
STIMULANT DRUGS 9

overdose it for it can discharge their brain, heart, and other important organs if it is overused. Taking

too much drugs can kill one’s mind. It also decreases ones memory and control over their actions.

New users of cocaine, with "new user" defined as having used the drug in question for the first time

within the past 5 years, Kuebler, Hausser, and Gerbassoni (2000) found that compared to more

established users, new drug users reported less injection use, less frequent drug use, fewer health

problems, fewer social difficulties, and less involvement in HIV risk behaviors. People who inject

stimulants run a high risk of contracting blood-borne diseases, certain stimulants can cause gangrene, a

condition in which the tissue in a person's bowels dies due to a lack of blood and put many parts of

their bodies at risk. Illegal drug use can cause chronic addiction, ruin personal and social lives, destroy

work relationships, foster criminal behavior, and result in chronic medical, mental health problems and

death. Many people start abusing stimulants because the drugs give them an artificial feeling of

happiness. Stimulants such as cocaine causes chronic effects that these drugs have on various body

systems. It may be that it is not merely drug use that heightens the overall frequency of sexual risk-

taking, but the extent to which people experience drug addiction or problems from their drug abuse

affects their overall behavioral risk. Stimulant drugs are the key element in the treatment in ADHD

which stimulants act to reduce hyperactivity.
