Local School Board - Resolution

The Local School Board of Isabela City passed a resolution recommending the approval of changing the name of Balawatin Elementary School to Hamad Elementary School. The request was made by heirs of the land donors where the school is located. Philippine law requires school name changes to be approved by the local school board. RESOLUTION NO. ___

A Resolution recommending the approval of the proposed change of school name


from BALAWATIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL to HAMAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

WHEREAS, the Isabela City Schools Division received a request from the heirs-
donors of the registered owner of that parcel of land donated to the Department of
Education Isabela City Schools Division which was utilized as a school site, to have
the name of the school-beneficiary be changed from BALAWATIN ELEMENTARY
SCHOOL to HAMAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL;

WHEREAS, Section 13 (e) of the Local Government Code (R.A. No. 7160) provides
that a change of name of a public school shall be made only upon the
recommendation of the local school board concerned;

WHEREAS, DepEd Order No. 29 S. of 2011 also provides that renaming of a public
school shall be made only upon the recommendation of the school board concerned;

WHEREAS the request made by the heirs-donors as stated under the first whereas
clause is not contrary to any existing law, ordinance or policy of DepEd;

WHEREAS the approval of the said request may even be a means to encourage or
motivate others to make donations to DepEd which donations would ultimately
redound to the benefit of the public;

NOW THEREFORE, foregoing premises considered, it is hereby resolved, that the


LOCAL SCHOOL BOARD of Isabela City DOES recommend to the Sangguniang
Panlungsod of Isabela City the approval of the proposed change of school name
from BALAWATIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL to HAMAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

RESOLVED on this 24th day of September, 2021, at Isabela City, Basilan,


Philippines.
