WHEREAS, the Isabela City Schools Division received a request from the heirs-
donors of the registered owner of that parcel of land donated to the Department of
Education Isabela City Schools Division which was utilized as a school site, to have
the name of the school-beneficiary be changed from BALAWATIN ELEMENTARY
SCHOOL to HAMAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL;
WHEREAS, Section 13 (e) of the Local Government Code (R.A. No. 7160) provides
that a change of name of a public school shall be made only upon the
recommendation of the local school board concerned;
WHEREAS, DepEd Order No. 29 S. of 2011 also provides that renaming of a public
school shall be made only upon the recommendation of the school board concerned;
WHEREAS the request made by the heirs-donors as stated under the first whereas
clause is not contrary to any existing law, ordinance or policy of DepEd;
WHEREAS the approval of the said request may even be a means to encourage or
motivate others to make donations to DepEd which donations would ultimately
redound to the benefit of the public;
APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
