    - The importance of first voyage around the world is that it opened doors in the places
    where they passed, where people, ideas and goods were coming and going. It
    established commercial contacts between East and West that remained for centuries.
    Also, it promoted the exchange of multiple sorts of experiences (scientific, cultural,
    religious).

    2. Explain the importance of Magellan's expedition in the Philippines.

    - The Spaniards embarked on Magellan's expedition in search of alternate ways to the


    east, as well as to explore new territories, spices, and gold, as well as to increase
    Spanish territory and preach Christianity. Magellan's journey was long and difficult, with
    only two ships surviving.
