What is the weathering?

Weathering: change of rock on near the surface of the Earth

+Three kinds of weathering+

 Physical weathering:mechanical breakdown of big boulder rocks

causes rocks to crumble.
 Chemical weathering : destruction of rock masses resulting in law of
chemical constituients

 Biological: cause by plant and animals, common we can see around us

+Process of kinds of weathering+

Physical weathering is caused by the effects of changing temperature on rocks,

causing the rock to break apart. The process is sometimes assisted by water.

Chemical weathering:these chemical processes need water, and occur more

rapidly at higher temperature, so warm, damp climates are best.

Biological weathering: plants and animals release acid forming chemicals that
cause weathering and also contribute to the breaking down of rocks and
landforms

What are the factors affecting weathering?

 The total surface area of mineral or rock; the processes of weathering

increases proportionately with the amount of open space at the surface of
the rock and extend through the rock
 Climate is another factor that affects the weathering process.
 Composition of rock or mineral substance can also affect the process of
weathering. The final element that affects weathering is time.

Soil: is a superficial and unconsilidated mantle of disintegrated and discompose

materials which is capable of supporting rooted plants
What are three broad fundamental of texture classes of soil?

 Sands
 Loams
 Clays

Sizes_diameter (in cm/mm)

Boulders: 256 millimetres

Cobble: from 64-256 mm

Gravel: from 2-64 mm

Sand: from 0.05 to 2.0 mm

Silt: from 0.002 to 0.05 mm

Clay: smaller than 0.002 mm

Residual Soil: is a soil material which is the result of weathering and

decomposition of rocks that has not been transported from its original place.

Transported soil: are those materials that have been moved from their place of
origin, by gravity, wind, water, glaciers, or human activity

Sedentary soil: soil remaining on the rock from which it has developed.
