MOTIVACIÓN
Hello dear students, in this thirteenth guide, we are going to play a kid game where we identify must and mustn’t and

DESARROLLO
Taking into consideration this thirteenth guide for eleventh graders, the students need to
 Attend the online sessions through a Google Meet link on September 29th and October 6th at 8:00 am, you need to
be ready to attend an online session where we are going to explain the guide and to check some of the guide
activities
 Remember these points are just to understand and to read them carefully.
1. Let’s match the words to the pictures

2. Let’s check some grammar points and some useful vocabulary
Have to
We use have to + infinitive to talk about obligation, things that are necessary to do, or to give advice about things
that are a good idea to do. Must and have to are both used for obligation and are often quite similar. They are both
followed by the infinitive.
We often use ‘have to’ for what somebody in authority has said it is necessary to do.
‘Have’ changes in the third person singular (he/she/it has)
 I must go now. / I have to go now.
 You have to look after their hair regularly. (dog experts say so)
 Do you have to wear a tie for school? (asking about school rules)
 She has to hand in the assignment today
 Andrew has to show the papers in the office
We use have to / must / + infinitive to talk about obligation or things that are necessary to do. Must and have to

We often use must for more personal opinions about what it is necessary to do, and have to for what somebody in
authority has said it is necessary to do.
 I must remember to get a present for Daisy. (my opinion)

 You have to look after their hair regularly. (dog experts say so)
 Do you have to wear a tie for school? (asking about school rules)
Have to is more frequent in conversation; must is used more in formal writing, for example in written notices.
 Passengers must fasten their seat-belts.
Have changes in the third person singular (he/she/it has); but must doesn’t change. It’s a modal verb and modals
don’t change.
There’s something very important about must and have to. The positive forms are very similar in meaning, but the
negative forms are completely different.
 You mustn’t forget ... (don’t forget - you have no choice)

 If you don't like him, you don't have to see him again. (there is no obligation to see him again, but you
have a choice)
Here's an example you can remember:

In a non-smoking area you mustn’t smoke, but in a smoking area you don’t have to smoke but you can if you want
to.
3. Let’s listen to the audio 38 and identify the greeting expressions that are mentioned
4. Let’s complete the sentences with a word from the 1st point

Look at five English proverbs. Match the sentence halves.

Choose the correct verbs to complete the sentences.

c. You don’t have to / must say hello to your neighbours. It’s rude if you don’t.

5. Let’s read something aloud

Taking into consideration the unit we have studied, you just need to hand in these activities
1. First, listen to the audio 37 and answer these questions
a. What things did you find strange?

b. Were things hard for you at school?
c. How did you deal with the language?
d. What was the most difficult thing for your family?
e. Why did you move here?
2. Secondly, imagine you will move to a different country. Write an interview with 5 questions about the
impressions of life in that country.
3. Finally, perform a TV show called 'Respecting differences'.

First, choose just one section
 Sections: ▪ An interview ▪ A cultural report ▪ A news story ▪ A live call-in
Second, read the features of each section and develop just by your own the section
Third, consider these steps

• Decide how to start and end the show.
• Give the section characteristics that can be more interesting / successful / realistic. You can play two or three
roles
• Think how you can make your bedroom or living room look like a TV set.
 Present the TV show section by a two-minute video.

Finalmente, para tener una mejor idea del proceso de autoevaluación vamos a evaluar la primera guía del tercer periodo
(Décimo segunda guía) considerando los siguientes parámetros. Es el momento de establecer direccionamientos más
claros teniendo en cuenta nuestra autoevaluación. Lea atentamente cada casilla y, según lo que haya hecho o no a lo
largo de la décima guía, elija de manera honesta y consciente. Recuerde que no es solo elegir una X para espacio, es
comprender lo que significa cada competencia y reconocer lo que está haciendo todos los días.

Finalmente, después de revisar las directrices en la parte de autoevaluación, me gustaría que se valoraran con una nota
de 1.0 a 5.0 en la décima segunda guía teniendo en cuenta que su valoración no puede exceder de manera exagerada la
valoración de la guía (valoración consignada en Sapred) y cuando la valoración de la guía sea inferior a 3.0 esta no debe
ser inferior a la valoración que haya obtenido. Sea honesto, sea consciente, sea mejor y sea un verdadero estudiante.
